Of the 800,000 stroke cases in the United States each year, approximately 15% are caused by carotid artery disease. Neuroguard employs a closed-cell stent design combined with FlexRing technology, offering both flexibility and radial support, enabling physicians to perform faster and more precise surgical procedures. Currently, the device is restricted to clinical research use within the United States.

The 2022 Performance II study showed that, even for patients with severe calcified lesions, no major stroke, neurological death, or stent thrombosis occurred within 30 days and one year post-operation. Contego Medical is currently developing the next generation of this technology through the TCAR-Performance III trial.
