On September 6, 2026, the 2026 World Medical Urology Academic Conference and the Second Academic Frontier Exchange Conference of the Department of Urology at Capital Medical University were held in Beijing. The conference brought together academicians, chairpersons of specialized committees, domestic urology experts, and representatives from more than 200 medical institutions across China, who participated both online and offline. Discussions focused on key disciplinary directions and real-world clinical needs.
In the “Expert-Led Special Session on Live Surgery Broadcasts within Medical Consortia,” Professor Xing Nianzeng successfully performed a highly challenging posterior approach robot-assisted laparoscopic radical prostatectomy using the Sentire® endoscopic surgical robot. The entire procedure was smooth and precise, demonstrating textbook-level operational proficiency and seamless device integration in complex, high-difficulty surgical scenarios.
As an important prelude to this grand event, the “Academic Exchange Conference on Intelligent Leadership in Excellence in Robotic Surgery” was successfully held on September 5.

Deep Cultivation and Steady Accumulation, Progressing with Stability to Reach Far. The Ceremony Celebrating the Milestone of Over 200 Clinical Cases of the Sentire® Laparoscopic Surgical Robot at Beijing Shijitan Hospital Was Successfully Held. This achievement not only reflects the clinical team’s exceptional medical expertise and diligent efforts but also serves as solid proof that Sentire® has earned clinical trust through its robust capabilities, marking a new stage in the large-scale clinical application of domestically produced laparoscopic surgical robots.
Building on a foundation of strong mutual trust and solid rapport established through 200 clinical cases, Beijing Shijitan Hospital and Cornerstone Robotics have formally entered into a strategic partnership. Centered on collaborative innovation between healthcare providers and enterprises, as well as the integrated development of industry, academia, research, and clinical application, both parties will construct a comprehensive ecosystem spanning clinical diagnosis and treatment, technological R&D, talent cultivation, and translation of achievements. Together, they aim to advance the self-reliance, controllability, and high-quality development of China’s high-end medical equipment.
Professor Ou Guowei, Founder and CEO of Cornerstone Robotics, has been appointed as a Visiting Professor at the School of Oncology, Capital Medical University. This appointment not only serves as a high recognition of Professor Ou’s outstanding academic achievements and engineering translation capabilities in the field of medical robotics, but also represents a strategic initiative by Beijing Shijitan Hospital to deepen the integration of medicine and engineering and build a hub for interdisciplinary talent.

During the academic exchange session, experts engaged in lively discussions focusing on the technical challenges and application prospects of robotic surgery. The session was moderated by Professor Zhang Yong from Beijing Tiantan Hospital, Capital Medical University, and Professor Zhang Bao from the Aerospace Center Hospital, Peking University Aerospace School of Clinical Medicine.
At the conference, Professor Xing Nianzeng shared his techniques and experience in robot-assisted posterior approach radical prostatectomy. His innovative “sandwich” technique resonated strongly with the attending experts.
Professor Ou Guowei delivered a keynote address titled “Integration of Medicine and Engineering, the Future of Surgery: My Entrepreneurial Journey in Medical Robotics,” sharing his insights and explorations on entrepreneurship in the medical robotics field from the perspective of medicine-engineering integration. Professor Ou emphasized that only by adhering to full-stack independent research and development can companies truly control quality, cost, and iteration speed, thereby addressing the industry-wide challenge of “accessibility.”
During the discussion session, experts including Zhang Guohui, Bai Hongwei, Wang Jianwen, Zhu Hongjian, Gu Xin, Yu Xuewei, Niu Lingwei, and Chen Hongbing engaged in lively exchanges on topics such as the expansion of indications for robotic surgery, refined intraoperative manipulation, and the future breadth of clinical applications.

In his concluding remarks, Dr. Zhang Qian, President of Beijing Shijitan Hospital, pointed out that this conference was not only a showcase of robotic surgical technology but also a vivid demonstration of the integration of medicine and engineering, as well as the collaborative development of industry and research.

From the accumulation of experience in 200 clinical cases to the establishment of strategic partnerships and the integration of talent pipelines, Cornerstone Robotics is collaborating with clinical experts to continuously expand the clinical application boundaries of surgical robots. In the future, Cornerstone Robotics will continue to prioritize independent innovation, empowering the development of clinical disciplines with smarter, more precise, and more accessible high-end medical equipment. This commitment aims to facilitate the intelligent and standardized development of minimally invasive surgery in China, ensuring that superior advanced medical technologies benefit a broader patient population.
