Hefei Second People's Hospital Successfully Completes Nation’s First Clinical Cases Using Xuanyu Medical’s RhythPulse® Pulsed Field Ablation System for Atrial Fibrillation

Patient 1 is a 70-year-old male who has experienced recurrent chest tightness and palpitations for 3 years, with symptoms worsening over the past half day upon admission. Admission diagnosis: 1. Chronic heart failure 2. Coronary atherosclerotic heart disease 3. NYHA Class II cardiac function 4. Paroxysmal atrial fibrillation 5. Sjögren's syndrome 6. Ventricular standstill. Patient 2 is a 77-year-old female with recurrent dizziness for over 10 years, reoccurred with amaurosis for one week before admission. Admission diagnoses: 1. Atrial fibrillation 2. Acute exacerbation of chronic heart failure 3. Cardiac function Class II-III 4. Grade 3 hypertension (very high risk) 5. Multiple cerebral infarctions 6. Deep vein thrombosis of the lower extremities 7. Varicose veins of the lower extremities 8. Pulmonary shadow (nodule). Director Zhang Jing from the Cardiology Department and her team communicated with the family and decided to use ShineyoMedical RhythPulse.^®-PFA Pulse Electric Field Ablation for patient treatment.

Both patients underwent surgery under general anesthesia. After routine vascular puncture, the atrial septal puncture sheath was advanced via the inferior vena cava to the right atrium, and the atrial septum (anterior and inferior) was punctured to successfully establish access to the left atrium. The RhythPulse system from ShineyoMedical was used.^®The 15mm catheter performed left atrial modeling and substrate mapping under the support of a three-dimensional system.

After the modeling is completed, RhythPulse^®The PFA catheter was delivered to the left upper pulmonary vein, where ablation was performed at the ostium and vestibule areas, successfully eliminating the pulmonary vein potential and achieving isolation. Subsequently, ablation was carried out sequentially on the left lower, right upper, and right lower pulmonary veins, successfully completing bilateral pulmonary vein electrical isolation. The entire ablation process took approximately 30 minutes.

In this surgery, the cardiology team of Hefei Second People's Hospital successfully performed pulse ablation on the patient with rich experience and superb technology. The operation went smoothly, and the patient recovered well post-operation, with stable vital signs.
