The Center for Medical Device Evaluation under China's National Medical Products Administration recently announced that invasive, semi-invasive, and non-invasive BCI systems from PINS Medical, SNEURO MEDICAL, and Haifu Medical respectively have been selected for the Innovative Medical Device Special Review Procedure — commonly known as the green channel.

The simultaneous approval marks a watershed moment for China's BCI industry, which until now has been characterized by fragmented development across isolated technology tracks. Now, for the first time, domestic companies have achieved breakthroughs across all three major BCI modalities — invasive, semi-invasive, and non-invasive — creating a complete technological ecosystem that rivals and potentially surpasses Western competitors.

The global BCI market has long been dominated by invasive approaches, with companies like Elon Musk's Neuralink leading the charge in implantable devices. PINS Medical, founded in 2008 and based in Beijing, has spent over a decade building what is now China's most comprehensive neuromodulation product portfolio.
