On October 17, it was reported that Novo Nordisk's oral semaglutide tablet Rybelsus had received approval from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to reduce the risk of major adverse cardiovascular events in high-risk patients with type 2 diabetes. Rybelsus has thus become the first orally-administered GLP-1 drug approved for this indication.
