On the 25th, AstraZeneca Global R&D Beijing Strategic Center was officially launched. This center is the second global strategic R&D center established by AstraZeneca in China after the establishment of AstraZeneca Global R&D Shanghai Strategic Center. It will lead new drug discovery and clinical development through collaborative efforts, accelerating the transformation of innovative achievements into life-changing medicines. At the same time, it will actively expand cooperation with local clinical trial institutions, universities, and biotech companies to deepen disease understanding and incubate scientific innovations.
At the conference, the BioPark planning proposal was officially released. The park is located along the southern central axis of Beijing. According to the plan, BioPark will feature four major industrial functional zones: a headquarters cluster area, a medical-engineering integration zone, a research and development transformation zone, and a pharmaceutical intelligent manufacturing zone. Among these, the headquarters cluster area will focus on becoming an international hub for pharmaceutical industry exchange, providing high-quality international business spaces to serve the landing of top global biopharmaceutical company headquarters and innovation centers. The pharmaceutical intelligent manufacturing zone will gather "lighthouse" factories for pharmaceutical smart manufacturing, attracting the industrialization of globally significant innovative products.
As an important承载区 for Beijing's pharmaceuticals and healthcare industry, Beijing Yizhuang has already gathered over 5,000 biopharmaceutical companies, establishing a complete industrial chain system from R&D, production, services to sales. The next step for Beijing Yizhuang is to advance the construction of BioPark, attracting more leading enterprises, research institutions, and top scientists. It aims to achieve a breakthrough of 120 billion yuan in pharmaceuticals and healthcare industrial output by 2027, creating an innovation highland with global influence. (END)
