Exclusive | Over $600 Million! Insilico Medicine Secures Another Major AI Drug Discovery Deal

On July 2, Insilico Medicine (HKEX: 3696), a clinical-stage drug discovery technology company powered by generative artificial intelligence (AI), announced it had entered into a global strategic collaboration agreement with Takeda Pharmaceutical Company Limited ("Takeda"). Leveraging Insilico's proprietary end-to-end Pharma.AI platform, the two parties will jointly advance the development of candidate drugs across multiple therapeutic areas selected by Takeda.

This collaboration aims to discover candidate drugs with clinical differentiation advantages for high-potential therapeutic targets. By applying advanced generative AI models to the early stages of drug development, both teams are poised to comprehensively enhance the quality of candidate molecule design and conduct structural optimization, striving to achieve best-in-class efficacy and ideal safety profiles.

Under the agreement, Insilico Medicine will lead the AI-driven drug discovery efforts, responsible for designing and screening candidate molecules that meet predefined scientific criteria and early development standards; Takeda will leverage its robust global development capabilities to advance the clinical validation of the relevant candidate drugs. Insilico Medicine will receive approximately $60 million in project initiation fees and near-term milestone payments; in addition, it is eligible to receive milestone payments based on preclinical, clinical, commercialization, and sales progress, with the total amount reaching up to approximately $600 million, plus tiered royalties based on future net sales after product commercialization. Takeda will obtain exclusive global rights to develop, manufacture, and commercialize the novel therapies selected through this collaboration.
