The 8th China International Import Expo will be held in Shanghai from November 5 to 10. Among the six corporate business exhibitions, the Medical Devices and Healthcare Products exhibition once again becomes a "showcase" for cutting-edge achievements and new product releases in the global medical industry. Over the years, with the continuous introduction of health-related products, this not only reflects "China Speed" but also mirrors "China's Warmth," fully safeguarding life and health.

Innovative products emerge endlessly, meeting more health needs.

This year, Siemens Healthineers' exhibition area will reach a record 1,000 square meters, the largest in the company's history of participating in the China International Import Expo (CIIE). As a "full-time participant" of the CIIE, Siemens Healthineers is presenting the ARTIS icono ceiling Xpand, an ultra-fast spectral angiography system making its Asian debut. This system can clearly capture tiny tumors that were previously difficult to detect within 2.5 seconds, enabling doctors to perform minimally invasive treatments with sub-millimeter precision. It also incorporates multiple AI technologies, providing refined treatment options for patients with liver and lung cancer.

At the Medtronic booth, there will be a lightweight and compact product that can "listen to the sounds emitted by the body," sense changes in spinal cord bio-signals under different movements, and automatically adjust stimulation in real time, providing continuous treatment for patients with chronic pain.

In addition to medical devices, new drugs are also a highly anticipated focus every year. This year, Novartis will showcase nearly 20 innovative products covering four core therapeutic areas: cardiovascular, renal and metabolic, oncology, immunology, and neuroscience. An immersive interactive experience will also be set up where attendees can wear spatial computing display devices to "travel" into the microscopic world and observe the journey of innovative drugs within the human body from a first-person perspective. Furthermore, in addition to showcasing a series of innovative projects, Eli Lilly has created two interactive zones—"Memory Café" and "Body Resistance Decoding Exhibition"—to address public health challenges such as "population aging" and "obesity," enhancing public scientific awareness of Alzheimer's disease and obesity.

"Exhibits Turn into Goods" Accelerates Landing.

The AVEIR™ DR Dual-Chamber Leadless Pacemaker System, which made its debut at the 6th CIIE, was approved for marketing in China this year and has completed implantation surgeries in multiple hospitals across the country, benefiting more patients.

Pan Wenqi, Chief Physician of the Cardiology Department at Ruijin Hospital, affiliated with Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine, who assisted the patient with the implantation of this product, introduced that pacemakers are an effective treatment for severe bradycardia. Compared with traditional pacemakers, this product not only enables synchronized communication between the atrium and ventricle, simulating the heart's natural activity to ensure precise pacing, but also avoids risks such as infection caused by the pocket and lead wear leading to breakage.

An increasing number of companies are witnessing their "exhibits turning into products." "The CIIE is a crucial platform for us to debut innovative achievements, understand local needs, and deepen win-win cooperation," said Dr. Hao Ting Gao, President and CEO of Boehringer Ingelheim Greater China, adding that thanks to the acceleration of new drug evaluation and approval in China and the company's "China Key" strategy, the innovative lung cancer drug "Senthutu," showcased at last year's CIIE, received simultaneous approval in both China and the U.S. this summer.

Notably, to facilitate the "last mile" of innovative drug implementation, SPD Cloud Health, a comprehensive service provider for the off-hospital market of innovative drugs, ensures the transition from "drug delivery" to "health management" through the integration of "specialty pharmacies + digital patient service platforms + payment innovation" outside the exhibition, helping patients access and effectively use the drugs.

From exhibitors to investors, expanding the "circle of friends".

In March 2025, Elekta achieved localized production of its entire product line in China; on May 8, Roche Pharmaceuticals China announced an investment of 2.04 billion yuan to build a new biopharmaceutical production base in Shanghai; on October 25, Medtronic's first digital medical innovation base in China was established at the Beijing International Medical Innovation Park…

Roche Pharma China President Bian Xin stated that as an important window for China's high-level opening to the outside world and a platform for sharing global innovative achievements, the CIIE has built an irreplaceable strategic stage for foreign enterprises deeply rooted in China. The continuously optimized business environment and innovation ecosystem in China provide fertile ground for foreign companies to take root and grow. The company will continue to increase its investment in China, deepen its layout, and work with ecosystem partners to jointly promote collaborative innovation in the healthcare field.

Medtronic China Fund Management Partner Wang Jinghua said that the company not only focuses on the development of the local value chain but also emphasizes the exploration of local innovation. The Medtronic China Fund has invested in more than 10 medical technology startups and recently strategically acquired a stake in Xinhuantech. Both parties look forward to carrying out multi-level strategic cooperation in areas such as intracardiac ultrasound in the future, bringing high-quality medical solutions to China and even globally.

"We deeply feel the continuous optimization of China's business environment. In the past three years, we have reached more than 20 cooperation agreements at the CIIE." Jin Fangqian, Global Vice President of Gilead Sciences and General Manager of China, said that he looks forward to leveraging the important platform of the CIIE to expand the 'circle of friends' and resonate with China’s new journey of the '15th Five-Year Plan.'
