"The future of Healthy China hinges on systemic innovation that shifts the focus from treatment to prevention." At the scene of the 8th CIIE, Li Weidong, Vice President of GSK and Head of China Vaccine Business, stated that GSK, with the core concept of "whole-life-cycle management," continues to drive innovation in adult health protection.
The recombinant shingles vaccine, Shingrix, made its debut at the "dual exhibition areas" of this year's CIIE. In October, it was approved for a new indication for individuals aged 18 and above with immunodeficiency or immunosuppression, becoming the first recombinant shingles vaccine to cover this population. This marks a new phase in the prevention and control of shingles.
This year, GSK collaborates with multiple parties to discuss the new concept of "Three Highs and One Rash, Medical and Preventive Synergy" in chronic disease management. Building on the existing "Three Highs Management," it integrates the prevention of hypertension, diabetes, dyslipidemia, and herpes zoster, promoting the advancement of preventive measures and facilitating multi-disease prevention.
Li Weidong pointed out that GSK will continue to empower medical practice through innovation-driven approaches, working with experts, doctors, and public health partners to improve the adult immunization ecosystem. This forms a closed loop from awareness enhancement and accessibility assurance to product innovation, supporting the high-quality development of China's adult vaccine sector.
