This trial combines the novel Covidien Healthcare OPTIMAP electrical signal flow mapping technology with the FARAPULSE pulsed field ablation platform, aiming to evaluate targeted lesion ablation strategies for persistent atrial fibrillation. The OPTIMAP mapping technology, driven by proprietary algorithms, identifies foci outside the pulmonary veins that trigger atrial fibrillation activity—such as triggering and driver foci—which form the pathological basis of atrial fibrillation. This technology is expected to enable physicians to move beyond traditional anatomical ablation strategies, achieving personalized, lesion-targeted treatments that could transform the treatment paradigm for persistent atrial fibrillation.
