China Finance and Economics News, November 20th — Today, the Beijing leg of the 2025 "A Decade Together, A New Journey Awaits" Eight-Section Brocade Competition, initiated by Johnson & Johnson and supported by People's Good Doctor, concluded. The event focused on functional cures for hematological tumors.
As the first Baduanjin-themed competition in China dedicated to patients with hematological tumors, this year's event responds to the call of the "Healthy China" initiative. It explores an innovative rehabilitation path that integrates traditional health preservation with modern medicine, creating a distinctive project that combines competition, education, and rehabilitation. This helps patients achieve the treatment goals of "deeper remission and longer survival," further enhancing immune function, improving physical and mental well-being, and returning to normal life. It also paves the way for more practical possibilities in achieving the goal of "functional cure."

At the event, Professor Lu Jin, Chief Physician of the Department of Hematology at Peking University People's Hospital, used multiple myeloma as an example to illustrate the "innovation and tradition" dual drivers in the field of hematological oncology. She emphasized that tradition lies in a profound understanding of the disease’s essence and unwavering humanistic care for patients, with the integration of Baduanjin into rehabilitation management exemplifying the vivid fusion of traditional wisdom and modern medical concepts. Innovation is reflected in continuous breakthroughs in therapies such as monoclonal antibodies, bispecific antibodies, and CAR-T, driving previously difficult-to-treat malignant tumors like multiple myeloma, lymphoma, and amyloidosis gradually into an era of chronic disease management.
"For helping more patients achieve this higher treatment goal, Professor Wang Liru, Director of the Hematology Department at Fuxing Hospital affiliated with Capital Medical University, further emphasized the importance of standardized full-process management: 'The foundation for long-term survival lies in ‘deep remission,’ and deep remission cannot be achieved without regular follow-ups and standardized treatment. Only by transforming scientific treatment concepts into the patients’ consistent daily practice can long-term survival with the disease move from vision to reality.'"
In the multiple myeloma patient community, the name "Half Bottle Hall" carries warmth and strength — it is the online alias of Xin Shaohua, the president of the Patient Mutual Aid Association. Long-term practice of the Eight Pieces of Brocade (Ba Duan Jin) has allowed him to personally experience the tangible benefits of traditional health preservation for recovery. He stated that Ba Duan Jin is gentle and harmonious, enhancing immunity and alleviating stress, while also serving as a rehabilitative ritual for patients to regain control over their physical and mental well-being.

"This year marks the 40th anniversary of Johnson & Johnson's presence in China. We have always been committed to the mission of patient health and pushing the boundaries of scientific innovation to new heights. This Baduanjin competition is not only a rehabilitation practice but also a new exploration by Johnson & Johnson into establishing a patient-centered cancer chronic disease management model," said Sévan Kaloustian, Vice President of Johnson & Johnson Innovative Medicine China and Head of the Oncology Division. He expressed that, in the future, the company will continue to collaborate with the medical field and all sectors of society to deepen a patient service model with Chinese characteristics, enabling more patients to achieve a life transition from treatment to cure."
It is reported that this competition is being held in many cities across China. The "People's Good Doctor" platform will also launch a display page to update the event dynamics in real time, initiating online and offline Baduanjin competitions for blood tumors and health interactions.
