Developer of Implantable Brain-Computer Interface Technology

Build full-chain service capabilities from R&D, clinical, registration to overseas expansion

WaigaoqiaoGroup (600648.SH) Launches the "Brain-Computer Interface Innovation Development Partnership Program" to further strengthen its agglomeration effect in the cutting-edge field of brain-computer interfaces, aiming to make Waigaoqiao the preferred "landing point" and "accelerator" for innovative achievements in brain-computer interfaces.

At the 6th Waigaoqiao Medical and Health Cooperation Forum held on November 27, Waigaoqiao Group launched this plan and simultaneously released the "Waigaoqiao Brain-Computer Interface Product Service Package."

The goal of the Partner Program is to unite companies, hospitals, and government departments to jointly build a collaborative innovation ecosystem, addressing bottlenecks in the clinical transformation, cross-border data flow, market access, and other aspects of brain-computer interface technology. Companies joining the Partner Program will receive relevant services from the "Waigaoqiao Brain-Computer Interface Product Service Package," which includes full-chain support from cross-border R&D pilots, expedited clinical approval, to overseas market entry, providing effective assistance to innovative enterprises. Companies in the first batch to join can additionally receive preferential spatial carrier support and related industry policy guidance provided by the Waigaoqiao Group.

On the same day, StairMed, Shenfu Jianxing, Ximang Medical, Qiongding Medical, and Waigaoqiao Biomedical Company announced their participation as the first batch of partners in the initiative.

"Brain-computer interface is on the verge of an explosion as it moves from the laboratory to clinical application. We hope to gain a head start through the 'Partnership Program', build full-chain service capabilities from R&D, clinical trials, registration to overseas expansion, form an industrial cluster effect, and seize the commanding heights of the future industry," said Zhu Yaopeng, General Manager of Waigaoqiao Biomedical Industry Development Co., Ltd.

Recently, StairMed's "Implantable Wireless Brain-Computer Interface System" has officially entered the National Medical Products Administration.Innovative HealthcareThe special review process for devices (also known as the green channel) has become the first invasive brain-computer interface product in China to enter this process. "This is an important milestone for industrialization," said Chen Yaoxu, Assistant to the General Manager of Shanghai StairMed Technology Co., Ltd.

StairMed Launches the World’s Smallest Brain-Controlled Implant, Achieving Self-Controllable Core Components and Advancing Towards Full Localization of the Supply Chain. In clinical settings, StairMed is collaborating with Huashan Hospital Affiliated to Fudan University on prospective clinical trials. Chen Yaoxu stated that preliminary results have already validated motor control capabilities, helping patients regain partial self-care abilities. This indicates that China’s invasive brain-computer interface technology has moved from "laboratory breakthroughs" into a critical phase of "verifiable and applicable" advancements.

Zhu Yaopeng stated that brain-computer interface is a typical interdisciplinary field, and its development highly relies on the integration of medicine and engineering, cross-border R&D, and international cooperation. This is precisely where Waigaoqiao’s multiple strategic advantages overlap — it possesses the policy function of "bonded R&D," holds a pivotal position connecting the Chinese and international markets, and has the potential for institutional openness such as cross-border data flow and convenient personnel entry and exit brought by the ongoing construction of the Oriental Hub International Business Cooperation Zone.

"Waigaoqiao can provide brain-computer interface companies with full-process policy adaptation services from clinical trials to overseas registration," said Zhu Yaopeng.
