NEUCYBER

Brain-Computer Interface System R&D Service Provider

In a ward at Beijing Tiantan Hospital, a patient who had been unable to lift their left arm and extend their fingers due to a stroke recently achieved mechanical yet precise control of their left hand through the implantation of an intelligent brain-computer system called "Beijing Brain One." This is not a scene from science fiction but a real event occurring at the forefront of medical care in the capital. The reporter learned recently fromZhongguancunDevelopment Group has learned that the semi-invasive brain-computer interface "Beijing Brain One," independently developed by a brain-computer interface integrated technology company incubated within its system, has officially entered the rigorous GCP multi-center clinical trial stage. Together with the key progress in fundamental research achieved by the Beijing Institute for Brain Science and Brain-like Intelligence, this marks a significant breakthrough in Beijing's core track of the future brain-computer interface industry, transitioning from original technology R&D to clinical transformation and application. An innovative ecosystem encompassing basic research, technological development, and industrial cultivation is rapidly taking shape.

Innovation Cornerstone

Since February 2025, the Beijing Institute of Brain Science and Neuro-inspired Intelligence, in collaboration with NEUCYBER and top clinical institutions such as Peking University First Hospital, Xuanwu Hospital, and Tiantan Hospital, has successfully completed the implantation of the "BeiNao No.1" intelligent brain-computer system in five human subjects. The trials, aimed at patients with major neurological disorders including spinal cord injuries, stroke, and ALS, have achieved a series of encouraging results.

The rapid advancement of clinical translation is inseparable from the support of core underlying technologies and the fertile ground of an innovative ecosystem. As a key initiative in Beijing's strategic layout in the field of brain science, the Beijing Institute of Brain Science and Brain-like Intelligence (referred to as "BIBS") has, since its establishment, recruited 39 high-level leading scientists from around the world and built 11 internationally top-tier, fully functional technology platforms, including those for imaging and micro-nano processing. The institute has been approved to conduct 17 investigator-initiated clinical studies in cutting-edge areas such as brain-computer interfaces and gene therapy for brain diseases, becoming the core source driving innovation in brain-computer interfaces in Beijing.

In the long race of this hard-tech field, "patient capital" and strategic planning have played a crucial guiding and safeguarding role. Zhongguancun Development Group has consistently adhered to the philosophy of "investing early, investing small, investing long-term, and investing in hard technology." In 2022, the group funded the establishment of the North Brain Fund to specifically support the frontier explorations of the North Brain Institute. More importantly, the group facilitated the North Brain Fund and the director of the North Brain Institute, Luo Minmin, to jointly initiate the establishment of the Brain-Computer Interface Integration Technology Center — NEUCYBER — which was designated as the core implementing entity of Beijing's "Brain-Computer System Enhancement Plan." Focused on carrying out the engineering development and industrial promotion of brain-computer technology, it bridged the critical gap between laboratory discoveries and product realization.

Industrial Agglomeration

Create a Warm and Hard-Core Industrial Cluster

To accelerate the application of cutting-edge achievements, Zhongguan Village Development Group has further deepened its integration with clinical resources this year. In collaboration with Xuanwu Hospital of Capital Medical University, they jointly established the "Xuanwu Hospital·Zhongguan Village Development Group Brain Health and Intelligent Diagnosis and Treatment Joint Laboratory." Operated by the group's subsidiary, Zhongguan Village Medical Device Park, the laboratory focuses on key areas such as brain disease models, brain-computer interface technology, neuro-diagnostic and therapeutic device development, and clinical translation. Its aim is to build an efficient closed loop from clinical needs, through technological R&D, to clinical validation and industrialization.

From supporting fundamental exploration in top-tier new R&D institutions, to incubating high-tech companies focused on integration and transformation, to collaborating with leading hospitals to establish clinical transformation platforms, the Zhongguan Village Development Group is systematically accompanying technology enterprises in future industry sectors such as brain-computer interfaces through the "Darwinian Sea" of transitioning from laboratory to industrialization via an integrated service model of "investment + services." This series of initiatives not only aims to overcome key technologies and benefit a wide range of patients but also focuses on cultivating an innovative and industrial hub for brain-computer interfaces in Beijing with global competitiveness.

As the multi-center clinical trials such as "Beijing Brain One" continue to advance in depth, and with the continuous efforts at each key node of the innovation chain, Beijing is amassing formidable strength through the deep integration of basic research, clinical medicine, and industrial capital in the strategic field of brain-computer interfaces that leads the future. This provides a strong and enduring driving force for achieving high-level technological self-reliance and creating an influential global benchmark for brain science industry innovation.
