Artificial Heart Series Product Developer
December 1-4, The 31st Annual Meeting of the International Society for Mechanical Circulatory Support (ISMCS) was held in Vienna, Austria, bringing together experts to discuss more effective, accessible, and higher-quality life support solutions for end-stage heart failure patients.
Core Medical, as an important contributor to technological innovation in the global artificial heart field, was invited to the conference to share the advantages and latest achievements of its full magnetic levitation bearing technology. Its core product, Corheart6, an ultra-small full magnetic levitation left ventricular assist device (LVAD), has demonstrated solid clinical applications and the latest data, becoming a popular topic in international academic exchanges. From cutting-edge technological breakthroughs and leading clinical performance to international clinical recognition, Core Medical has become a key innovative force driving the advancement of global artificial heart technology.
Long-term Follow-up Clinical Data Excellent, Corheart6 Highly Recognized by Global Experts
Professor Haibo Chen from Fuwai Hospital, Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences, National Cardiovascular Center, delivered an academic report titled "Left Ventricular Assist Device Therapy in China: Past, Present, and Future," focusing on sharing the relevant conditions and survival rate data of 76 patients who received the implantation of Corheart6, China's new generation fully magnetically suspended left ventricular assist device developed by Shenzhen Core Medical Technology Co., Ltd.
Follow-up data showed that from October 2021 to November 2025, the 1-year, 2-year, and 3-year survival rates were all 91.0%. Among them, 2 cases were bridged to heart transplantation, 4 patients recovered cardiac function and successfully had the pump removed, and the longest usage time for a single patient reached 1,432 days.

Previously, Core Medical had announced the multi-center clinical trial approved by NMPA, which showed a two-year postoperative survival rate of 86%, with the longest ventricular assist device support exceeding three years. The latest data from Fuwai Hospital further confirmed the excellent efficacy and safety of Corheart6.
The clinical evidence of Corheart6 has quickly translated into strong influence in both domestic and overseas markets. In 2024, the market share of implantations in China exceeded 45%; by the first five months of 2025, it surged to over 52%. To date, Corheart6 has completed more than 1,000 implantations; among third-generation fully magnetically levitated artificial hearts, only Abbott's HeartMate 3 has reached this number of implantations. In terms of overseas markets, Corheart6 has been successfully implanted in multiple countries including Austria, Ukraine, and Colombia.
Original Full Magnetic Levitation Technology Leads the Innovation Direction of Artificial Hearts
Core Medical delivered an academic presentation titled "Evolution of VAD: New Device, New Hope" at an industry seminar, where it first elaborated overseas on the core design concept of the original "Time-Partition Dynamic Axial Full Magnetic Suspension Control Technology," exploring with the industry how to achieve breakthroughs in miniaturization, hemocompatibility, and low power consumption.

"Time-sharing and Zoning Dynamic Axial Full Magnetic Suspension Control Technology" utilizes multiple sensors to continuously monitor the operating posture of the impeller, employing time-sharing and zoning electromagnetic force for multi-point control of the impeller to achieve precise suspension control of the impeller's posture. Meanwhile, Corheart6 also incorporates axial full magnetic suspension motor integrated technology, effectively enabling the impeller to rotate in full contactless suspension driven by electromagnetic force.
In June 2023, Corheart6 was approved for marketing by the NMPA as an innovative medical device. This product is reportedly a third-generation non-contact magnetic levitation centrifugal pump. Its core technology mainly involves disc motor technology, which uses position sensors to detect and control the rotor’s speed and suspension height. The motor of this product employs only one set of stator coils to simultaneously control the rotation and suspension of the rotor, featuring a simpler structure, lighter weight, smaller size, and lower power consumption. In clinical applications, the surgical incision is smaller, patient recovery is faster, the applicable population is broader, and it reduces the risk of thrombosis caused by blood pump heat.
During the scientific and technological achievements appraisal by the Chinese Society of Biomedical Engineering, Corheart6 received the expert panel's evaluation: "The Corheart6 full magnetic levitation artificial heart system has broken through the current international bottleneck of full magnetic levitation miniaturization. Its key technical indicators such as pump weight, volume, motor design technology, and clinical efficacy are leading, filling the gap in the international ultra-small full magnetic levitation artificial heart medical device field."
The device has a diameter of 34mm, thickness of 26mm, and weighs approximately 90g, making it the world's smallest and lightest commercialized fully magnetically levitated implantable artificial heart. Compared to international competitors, its diameter is reduced by about 30%, and its weight is decreased by over 50%. Due to its miniaturization and lightweight design, Corheart6 also demonstrates unique clinical value in the field of pediatric heart failure, being China's first implantable artificial heart product used clinically for pediatric heart failure.
Corheart6 has excellent blood compatibility, low risk of blood damage, and a low incidence of adverse events. Core Medical, based on innovative designs such as "time-sharing and zoning dynamic axial full magnetic suspension control technology," the decoupled structure of the motor and flow channel under axial magnetic suspension, and the "linear" secondary flow channel, effectively addresses issues like insufficient washing and long blood retention time in traditional magnetically levitated centrifugal pumps, reducing the risks of blood stagnation and blood damage.
Traditional artificial heart magnetic levitation technology relies on multiple sets of coils to achieve suspension and rotation functions, resulting in a complex system structure, larger size, and higher power consumption, making it difficult to fully meet the target design requirements of artificial hearts. The battery life of Corheart6 can reach 33 hours, significantly improving patients' freedom and long-term quality of life, restoring their ability to move independently, and truly bringing them back to normal life.
The Rise of China's High-End Medical Devices Leads the Frontiers and Future of Medicine
Research shows that the median time from diagnosis to death for end-stage heart failure is 12.2 months, with a 4-year survival rate of approximately 10%. Current drug treatments cannot reverse end-stage heart failure, and clinical recommendations mainly include heart transplantation or implantable artificial hearts. In 2024, the number of heart transplant surgeries in China was 1,064 cases, while the number of patients with end-stage heart failure in China exceeded 1.5 million during the same period, indicating an unmet demand gap.
Development in the artificial heart field provides more effective, accessible, and higher-quality life support solutions for end-stage heart failure patients. By 2033, the number of implantable artificial heart surgeries in China is expected to exceed 25,000 cases, corresponding to a market size of over 5.5 billion yuan, while the market size for interventional artificial hearts will surpass 11 billion yuan.
Core Medical has pioneered the application of core design concepts such as "time-sharing and zoning dynamic axial full magnetic levitation control technology" and "axial magnetic flux multi-drive motor technology" in the field of artificial hearts. In addition to Corheart6, its DuoCor2 is expected to become the world’s first integrated implantable dual-heart assist system with magnetic levitation, addressing the long-term treatment challenges of global "biventricular heart failure." The CorVad4.0/6.0 series is currently in the registration approval stage and is expected to become the first approved interventional artificial heart product in China.
