According to VCBeat, DPBIO has recently closed a Series B+ financing round of over RMB 120 million. This is its third funding round in half a year, with participation from top-tier investors including the IP Fund of Shanghai STVC Group, Nanshan SEI Investment, Shanghai Pudong Venture Capital (PDVC) and Hiway Capital Partners. To date, the company has raised more than RMB 300 million in total. The impressive fundraising reflects the capital market’s full recognition of its technological strengths, commercial capabilities, global expansion strategy and long-term growth prospects.

The new funds will be mainly used to strengthen core R&D, accelerate product upgrades for its high-end life science tools platform, and advance the construction of its global operation system. Focusing on high-growth areas such as drug discovery, synthetic biology and AI-enabled life science research, DPBIO will drive the large-scale global adoption of its self-developed instruments, consumables and integrated solutions.

Commercial Rollout Gathers Pace

Life science tools are the foundational infrastructure supporting the development of modern biopharmaceuticals, synthetic biology and AI-enabled biotechnology. The high-end life science instrument market has long been dominated by global industry leaders, while Chinese companies face major challenges in core technologies, system integration, application ecosystems and global brand building. DPBIO’s continued backing from leading investors underscores the capital market’s recognition of the emerging opportunities for China’s high-end life science tools sector, as well as the company’s solid progress in translating its technology platform into tangible commercial results.

Adhering to independent R&D on foundational technologies, DPBIO has developed a full suite of high-throughput, automated and intelligent solutions focused on two core business lines: drug discovery and synthetic biology. The company has developed and brought to market more than a dozen premium scientific instruments, alongside supporting chips, reagents and consumables, with a business model combining high-end instrument sales, recurring revenue from proprietary consumables and professional application services.

Currently, DPBIO counts over 200 leading biopharmaceutical enterprises, synthetic biology firms, Contract Research Organizations(CROs), universities and research institutions across the globe as its clients. More than 80% of China’s top 30 listed pharmaceutical companies and major CRO partners have established business ties with the firm. It has secured a leading market position in high-throughput single-cell screening based on microfluidic technology, and has greatly driven the wider adoption of microfluidic applications.

A growing number of clients have integrated DPBIO’s equipment into their daily workflows for drug discovery, antibody screening and synthetic biology R&D, driving higher uptime and utilization rates for its core devices. This, in turn, has boosted sales of its proprietary chips, reagents and consumables, lifting the share of recurring revenue year after year. Over the past three years, the company has delivered robust business expansion with a compound annual revenue growth rate above 90%, signalling that its offerings have moved beyond technical validation and entered a critical phase of large-scale commercial rollout.

Systematically advancing global expansion, with internationalization entering the phase of substantive implementation

Since 2025, DPBIO has pressed ahead with systematic global expansion under the DPBIO brand and built local operations across major European and North American regions. The company has set up local teams, labs and service centers in San Diego, Boston (the U.S.) and Heidelberg (Germany), creating a complete international service system covering pre-sales technical validation, customer training, application development, technical support and after-sales services.

This overseas footprint lays a solid foundation for DPBIO to build local trust and reliable delivery capacity among global high-end clients. Life science tools are highly application and service-oriented. By establishing laboratories and service teams within core life science innovation clusters in Europe and North America, the company can better align with the real-world R&D scenarios of international pharmaceutical firms, academic institutions and biotech startups, enabling more efficient product validation, order conversion and long-term client support. Global expansion has become an inevitable path for premium life science tool brands to close the loop on large-scale commercialization.

DPBIO has already secured orders from a host of top pharmaceutical enterprises and prestigious academic institutions in Europe and North America, kicking off substantive overseas commercialization. As its local teams and laboratory networks continue to improve across Europe, North America and key Asia-Pacific markets, the company will further enhance client outreach, service delivery and brand influence, and accelerate the build-out of a replicable and scalable global commercial network.

DPBIO actively participates in industry exhibitions and offline technical events across major global hubs in Europe and North America, engaging in in-depth exchanges with international clients, partners and academic experts.

Hong Kong Platform Empowerment: Building an International Hub Connecting the Mainland and Global Markets

Beyond its European and North American presence, the company also leverages the synergies between Shanghai-Shenzhen and Hong Kong to accelerate global resource integration via Hong Kong’s international innovation ecosystem.

Founded in 2018 and originated from the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, DPBIO has maintained long-standing close links with Hong Kong’s innovation ecosystem. In 2026, it was selected as one of the first key supported projects under the HSITP@GAS Global Acceleration Program run by the Hong Kong-Shenzhen Innovation and Technology Park, cementing its status as a representative enterprise advancing the internationalization of life sciences, healthcare technology and hard tech based in Hong Kong. Drawing on the park’s platform, DPBIO will further connect Hong Kong’s world-class research resources, industrial capital, overseas market networks and the Greater Bay Area’s advanced manufacturing capabilities to drive coordinated growth in technological R&D, international business, global branding and capital market development.

Since the start of this year, senior executives from DPBIO have held exchanges with a number of prominent figures in Hong Kong’s political, business and innovation circles, including Ms. Starry Lee Wai-king, President of the Legislative Council of Hong Kong, Dr. Sun Dong, Secretary for Innovation, Technology and Industry of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, and Mr. Kenneth Fok Kai-kong, Member of the Legislative Council of Hong Kong. The interactions reflect the company’s rising standing within Hong Kong’s innovation landscape and the Greater Bay Area’s international innovation platform. Moving forward, DPBIO will continue to leverage Hong Kong as a vital bridge connecting mainland China and the global marketplace to refine its international business system and help Chinese high-end life science tool brands gain global traction.

Dr. Xu Xiaonan, Founder, Chairman and CEO of DPBIO, presented the company’s profile and product lineup to President Starry Lee Wai-king, Secretary Sun Dong, Legislative Council Member Kenneth Fok Kai-kong and other council members.

Building a New Generation Life Science Tool Platform for the AI+BIO Era

Artificial intelligence is reshaping R&D paradigms in drug discovery, protein engineering, cell engineering and synthetic biology. The performance of AI models relies heavily on a steady supply of high-quality, structured and large-scale biological data. High-throughput life science tools are evolving from traditional laboratory equipment into data-generating infrastructure that links physical experiments, biological datasets and intelligent algorithms.

DPBIO’s high-throughput platforms generate standardized and traceable biological data covering single-cell research, microbial analysis, droplet-based reactions and functional screening.
