Invasive Brain-Computer Interface Developer
IT House, December 13th — At the 2025 Tianqiao Neuroscience Institute Brain-Computer Interface and Artificial Intelligence Forum held today, NeuroXess announced the successful completion of the first clinical trial of its "Three-Complete" brain-computer interface product.
NeuroXess independently developed China’s first and the world’s second fully implanted, fully wireless, and full-function brain-computer interface product with a built-in battery, which successfully completed its first clinical trial under the leadership of Professor Mao Ying and Professor Chen Liang’s team from Huashan Hospital Affiliated with Fudan University.
According to the official introduction, the subject of this trial was a patient with high-level paralysis who had been completely immobile below the shoulders for 8 years. The patient was transferred to a general ward one day after the surgery, and on the fifth day post-operation, the device was successfully activated for the first time, achieving mind control. After systematic training, the brain-controlled decoding rate reached 5.2 BPS in standard tests, comparable to international top levels.
In January this year, NeuroXess closely collaborated with the Department of Neurosurgery at Huashan Hospital Affiliated with Fudan University. Based on their fully self-developed 256-channel high-throughput implantable flexible brain-computer interface, they successively conducted clinical trial research on high-precision real-time motion decoding and language decoding, successfully achieving "brain-controlled" smart devices and "mind-based communication."
NeuroXess stated that, thanks to the efficient acquisition and real-time analysis of high-throughput, high-quality, large-scale cross-brain-region EEG data, relevant brain functional areas can be accurately located within minutes during surgery. Motor and language decoding experiments can be conducted two days after the surgery, and "brain-controlled" smart devices and "mind-based communication" can be achieved within two weeks.
"This breakthrough not only covers real-time motion decoding but also achieves an unprecedented leap in real-time Chinese language decoding, marking that China has reached a world-leading level in the brain-computer interface field. NeuroXess has thus become the world's only invasive brain-computer interface company to simultaneously achieve real-time motion decoding and real-time Chinese language decoding."
