On December 15, the official website of the National Medical Products Administration disclosed that recently, the National Medical Products Administration approved the registration applications for the implantable deep brain neurostimulator, implantable deep brain neurostimulation electrode leads, and implantable deep brain neurostimulation extension leads from SceneRay Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "Sceneray").
The National Medical Products Administration (NMPA) stated that the implantable deep brain neurostimulator, when used in conjunction with implantable deep brain neurostimulation electrode leads and implantable deep brain neurostimulation extension leads, forms the implantable deep brain neurostimulation system. This system stimulates the nucleus accumbens and the anterior limb of the internal capsule, serving as an adjuvant treatment to prevent relapse in patients with refractory moderate to severe opioid addiction.
The implantable deep brain stimulation system fills the technical gap in physical intervention for opioid addiction treatment, providing more options for patients with opioid addiction.
The drug regulatory department will strengthen the post-market supervision of the aforementioned products to ensure patient safety in medical device use.
Sceneray stated that this is the world's first invasive brain-computer interface product for treating addiction-related mental disorders, marking China's leading position globally in brain-computer interface technology for treating addiction-related mental diseases.
