The First CIIE Quality Products Trade Fair Kicks Off Today at the National Exhibition and Convention Center (Shanghai). Medtronic, a long-time participant of the CIIE, is back to honor its CIIE commitment, showcasing products premiered in the Asia-Pacific region at the Eighth CIIE and other star exhibits at this trade fair. As a "full-attendee" of the CIIE, Medtronic leverages the strong influence of the CIIE platform to bring cutting-edge medical technology from the exhibition booths to the public, empowering the upgrading of health consumption.

Medtronic Global Senior Vice President and Greater China President Gu Yushao stated: "With 36 years of presence in China, Medtronic has always prioritized patients and is committed to accelerating...Innovative HealthcareThe clinical implementation of technology. As an extension of the CIIE, we look forward to the CIIE Quality Products Fair continuously amplifying the spillover effects of the CIIE, helping to transform 'exhibits' into 'products' and 'innovation' into 'health choices.'

Since the first China International Import Expo (CIIE), Medtronic has participated every year, introducing new products annually. It is not only a deep participant in the development of the CIIE but also a beneficiary and contributor. Leveraging the CIIE platform, Medtronic has showcased over 600 innovative products, with more than 70 debut exhibits having completed clinical implementation, benefiting a wide range of patients and healthcare providers in China. Participating in the first CIIE Quality Products Trade Fair is another significant step for Medtronic to strengthen its connection with the CIIE platform and promote the transformation of exhibits into commercial products.

At the "Innovation Showcase of CIIE Premieres" exhibition area, the Asia-Pacific premiere of the 8th CIIE — Medtronic's world-first rechargeable closed-loop spinal cord neurostimulator, Inceptiv, made another appearance. Research shows that in China, there are over 300 million patients suffering from chronic pain, and this number is continuously growing at an annual rate of 10 to 20 million. Inceptiv can "listen to the body's signals," sensing changes in spinal cord bio-signals during different movements in real time and automatically adjusting stimulation accordingly. This helps patients with chronic intractable pain and those suffering from painful diabetic peripheral neuropathy alleviate pain and improve their quality of life. With its revolutionary design, the product has won the TIME Magazine’s 2024 "Most Breakthrough Innovation" award and the 2025 Edison Award for "Chronic Disease Treatment Solution." During the CIIE, it garnered significant attention and was honored as one of the "Top Ten Exhibits of CIIE 2025."

As a representative enterprise in the field of medical technology, Medtronic actively assumes corporate social responsibility and is committed to enhancing public awareness of diseases and conveying cutting-edge innovative solutions through various forms of science popularization. As an innovation pioneer in the field of neurology, since performing the world's first deep brain stimulation (DBS) surgery in 1987, Medtronic has collaborated with doctors worldwide to bring this innovative therapy to more than 70 countries, benefiting over 250,000 patients globally. Based on its innovative progress and unmet needs, during the 26 years since entering China, Medtronic has successively introduced advanced therapies and products such as Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS), Spinal Cord Stimulation (SCS), Targeted Drug Delivery (TDD), Sacral Neuromodulation (SNM), and radiofrequency ablation focused on metastatic bone tumors to China, helping to fill the gaps in China’s neuromodulation-related fields.

At the Special "Public Welfare Science Exhibition," Medtronic focuses on medical science popularization in the field of neuromodulation and showcases its cutting-edge products offering full therapy solutions in this domain. Among them, Percept RC, a rechargeable and sensing closed-loop brain stimulator representing Medtronic's advancements in brain-computer interface technology, will make another appearance. Research indicates that in China, there are over 5 million patients with Parkinson’s disease, more than 10 million with tremors, over 400,000 with dystonia, and more than 10 million with epilepsy. Compared to traditional one-way treatment methods of brain stimulators, Percept RC incorporates artificial intelligence technology to sense and analyze patients' brain activity in real time, allowing treatment to better adapt to changes in patients’ conditions and needs. As a product first unveiled at the 7th CIIE (China International Import Expo), Percept RC has now been officially put into clinical use in China.
