Recently, Mingyi Zhonghe, a company dedicated to building an ecosystem service system for primary healthcare terminals, announced that it had completed over RMB 100 million in Series A2 financing in the first half of the year, with participation from Fosun Pharma, a subsidiary controlled by strategic investor Fosun International. This financing round marks another significant infusion of resources for Mingyi Zhonghe following investments made in late 2017 by renowned healthcare industry funds Tonghe Yucheng and Yuanyi Capital.
Mingyi Zhonghe was established in 2015. Its core business leverages the information platform “Yidebang” to empower primary healthcare institutions (primarily in rural areas) with a comprehensive suite of services, including operational management, pharmaceutical supply, medical education, and tiered referral systems. As a segment characterized by scarce medical resources and limited clinical capabilities, small and micro rural healthcare institutions serve the essential healthcare needs of nearly 600 million residents in towns and villages. Under the national strategy of “Strengthening Primary Care,” favorable policies have been introduced frequently. After nearly three years of intensive cultivation in the rural primary care market, Mingyi Zhonghe has built a solid foundation and established a clear leading advantage. Currently, its service coverage extends to more than 10 provinces across China, serving over 60,000 primary care clinics and village health stations, and reaching a population of more than 100 million people.
Rooted in China, Fosun is deeply committed to the sectors of health, happiness, and prosperity, leveraging technology leadership and continuous innovation to intelligently create a C2M (Customer-to-Maker) happiness ecosystem. As Fosun’s flagship segment, Fosun Pharma covers the entire industry chain, including pharmaceutical manufacturing and R&D, healthcare services, medical devices and diagnostics, as well as pharmaceutical distribution and retail.
Fosun has also placed significant emphasis on rural markets. To enhance healthcare service capacity in impoverished areas, and under the guidance of the Poverty Alleviation Office of the National Health Commission, the Fosun Foundation, in collaboration with multiple institutions, launched the “Warm Heart Health: Rural Doctor Health Poverty Alleviation Project.” Leveraging platforms such as the internet, the project provides professional competency training for rural doctors, offers incentives for public health services, and organizes evaluations to recognize outstanding rural doctors. These initiatives aim to strengthen safeguards for rural doctors, stabilize the rural doctor workforce, solidify the foundation of primary healthcare, and support health-focused poverty alleviation and the development of Healthy Villages.
Following the equity investment in Mingyi, the two parties have established a strategic partnership. Leveraging its comprehensive industrial advantages, Fosun Pharma will collaborate with Mingyi through customized approaches to develop products and services addressing the broader health needs of rural residents. Together, they aim to pioneer a novel C2M (Consumer-to-Manufacturer) model for primary healthcare, encompassing customized pharmaceuticals, chronic disease management services, resident health insurance, medical liability insurance for village doctors, and medical education.
Chen Qiyu, Executive Director and Co-President of Fosun International and Chairman of Fosun Pharma, stated: “Fosun’s strategy is centered on family customers, conducting in-depth industrial operations around the three core needs of health, happiness, and prosperity. Fosun aims to serve one billion family users worldwide. In particular, leveraging our comprehensive industrial resources in the big health sector to fully serve rural families—enabling rural residents to access high-quality products and services at affordable prices and with convenience—is a key rationale behind Fosun’s investment in Mingyi.”
Jiang Qiang, Founder and CEO of Mingyi Zhonghe, stated, “Mingyi Zhonghe is a pioneer in building a ‘Healthcare + Internet’ ecosystem rooted in China’s grassroots rural markets. We leverage internet technology to empower primary healthcare institutions and provide comprehensive health services to grassroots families. It is a great honor for our team to welcome Fosun, such a respected company, as a strategic shareholder of Mingyi Zhonghe. I believe that our strategic partnership will help drive pharmaceutical and healthcare reforms in China, facilitate the implementation of the national strategy to ‘strengthen primary care,’ promote the downward flow of more high-quality, reliable, and trustworthy medical resources, accelerate efforts to address the current shortage of medical personnel and medicines at the grassroots level, speed up supply-side development through internet technology, and better serve the health needs of people in grassroots communities.”
