VCBeat (WeChat ID: vcbeat) has learned that the 7th China Rare Disease Summit will be grandly held at the Sofitel Shanghai Sheshan Oriental from September 14 to 16, 2018. The conference is jointly organized by the Shanghai Clover Rare Disease Family Care Center (also known as the Center for Rare Diseases Development, abbreviated as CORD) and the Children's Hospital of Fudan University (National Children's Medical Center). The organizers will invite experts and scholars, clinicians, pharmaceutical companies, sequencing institutions, government departments, rare disease organizations, patient families, and media representatives from both domestic and international rare disease fields to participate. The number of attendees is expected to exceed 700!

Rare diseases represent one of the greatest challenges facing human medicine. Currently, nearly 7,000 rare diseases have been identified, with 80% caused by genetic defects and thus being hereditary. Through the concerted efforts of all stakeholders, significant progress has been made in research, diagnosis, treatment, and healthcare coverage for rare diseases across various countries and regions. Among them, China stands out as one of the most active nations in this field.

At that time, experts and scholars, clinicians, pharmaceutical companies, sequencing institutions, government departments, rare disease organizations, patient families, and media friends from both domestic and international fields of rare diseases will jointly participate in the conference to promote win-win cooperation and development in the cause of rare diseases.

By presenting and fostering the collision of authoritative perspectives from industry experts, the summit plays a significant role in policy advocacy and multi-party collaboration. The China Rare Disease Summit is committed to advancing the development of rare disease initiatives in China and promoting global progress in this field through academic exchange.
