LIVI Expands into the UK Market with NHS-Integrated Digital Primary Care Platform

Recently, VCBeat (WeChat Official Account: vcbeat) learned from foreign media reports that LIVI, an online general practitioner consultation service provider currently participating in the DigitalHealth.London accelerator program, has announced the launch of its online GP consultation services to patients across the United Kingdom through the NHS (National Health Service). This initiative enables patients to book online consultations in a secure, fast, and simple manner.

LIVI was founded in Sweden in 2015 and is operated by the Swedish company Webbhälsa AB. The consulting physicians working through the LIVI system are all General Practitioners (GPs) registered with the UK’s General Medical Council (GMC), with many years of experience in providing high-quality care. Upon hiring, they undergo a rigorous onboarding process and utilize LIVI’s internally developed proprietary clinical guidelines. Before formally accepting patient consultations, each GP is required to participate in one-on-one meetings with LIVI account managers and conduct consultation tests in a private, controlled environment.

As Europe’s largest digital primary care provider, LIVI has delivered over 500,000 general practitioner (GP) consultations to patients. After registering with LIVI, patients can schedule consultations anytime and anywhere via its mobile app on their smartphones or tablets, connecting with experienced GPs to obtain medical advice, prescriptions, health tips, and referral services.

Dr Caroline Baker, Chief Executive of the North West Surrey NICS GP Alliance, said: “GPs in North West Surrey, like their counterparts across the country, are struggling to cope with increased workloads driven by a growing and ageing population, tight budgets, and workforce crises. The North West Surrey Integrated Care Service (NICS) alliance is working to expand outpatient services to help alleviate this pressure. As a result, we have decided to partner with LIVI to provide our patients with high-quality video consultations. LIVI offers a rapid, safe, and effective alternative for our NHS patients, benefiting individuals of all ages while helping to reduce the burden on local online GP consultation practices.”

Johannes Schildt, CEO and Co-Founder of LIVI, stated: “Primary care systems across Europe are under immense pressure. As Europe’s largest digital primary care provider, we are delighted to partner with the National Health Service to pioneer new ways of supporting patients.”

An NHS survey released in August revealed that nearly one-quarter of people across the UK had to wait more than a week to see a general practitioner (GP) locally. The same survey found that 11% of patients who failed to secure a GP appointment turned to Accident & Emergency (A&E) services, placing a significant financial burden on both the A&E system and the NHS. LIVI’s online service offers accessible appointments for patients with various conditions and needs, thereby alleviating the pressure on primary care services.

Furthermore, LIVI is Sweden’s largest provider of online cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT). The company also intends to expand its mental health services into the UK, thereby broadening its operational scope while delivering safe, rapid, and convenient professional mental health care to patients.
