Since its inception, BioInformatics has been dedicated to solving problems for companies in the life sciences, analytical instrumentation, and clinical diagnostics sectors, providing not only data but also actionable intelligence to its clients. By leveraging an expert network comprising more than 50,000 life scientists, the company has supported over 500 companies across the life sciences, clinical diagnostics, radiology, and dental markets. This support helps them launch products on BioInformatics’ digital platform or enhance business decision-making through its market intelligence data and publications.
Upon completion of the financing, BioInformatics intends to allocate the funds toward its planned acquisition of Kalorama Information, a leading publisher in the medical research market, while reserving additional capital to finance future strategic acquisitions by BioInformatics. Originally established as the joint publishing division of Find/SVP with a focus on the U.S. healthcare market, Kalorama was acquired by MarketResearch in 1998. Following a shift in its business focus and restructuring of its analytical team, Kalorama expanded its coverage to a global scale. For over two decades, Kalorama has been a leading publisher of market research in the healthcare sector, primarily covering areas such as in vitro diagnostics, biotechnology, healthcare services, medical devices, and pharmaceuticals.
Regarding this acquisition, Craig Overpeck, CEO of BioInformatics, stated: “Kalorama Information is a premier source of high-quality market research reports for corporate decision-makers in the clinical diagnostics and life sciences sectors. This acquisition further solidifies our leadership position in the life sciences, diagnostics, and imaging markets, while also providing us with opportunities in the broader healthcare market, including medical devices, pharmaceuticals, and biotechnology.”
As part of the Science and Medicine Group, BioInformatics stated that following the acquisition of Kalorama Information, the data and resources provided by Kalorama will be integrated with BioInformatics’ existing asset capabilities. All companies and assets under BioInformatics will be jointly managed and consolidated within the Science and Medicine Group. In March this year, BioInformatics also acquired IMV Publishing, a company primarily engaged in market research for the medical imaging and clinical diagnostics equipment markets, as well as online publishing.
