Insight into Innovation · Healthy Future: The 2nd China Ningbo Life and Health Entrepreneurship and Innovation Competition (North China Division) Successfully Kicked Off in Beijing on November 23, 2018.


The Life Health Entrepreneurship and Innovation Competition (North China Region) is hosted by the Talent Office of the Ningbo Municipal Committee of the Communist Party of China and the People’s Government of Ninghai County; co-organized by the Organization Department of the Ninghai County Committee of the Communist Party of China, the Management Center of Ninghai Bio-industrial Park, and Beijing Jiayinhui Culture Media Co., Ltd.; in strategic partnership with Close A Ventures; and specially supported by Legend Star, Northern Light Venture Capital, Sinopharm Capital, Bencao Capital, Tasly Capital, Ziniu Fund, Hairong Medical Fund, CICC Medical Fund, Shunsheng Capital, Shuncheng Capital, Hanhai Holdings, and Beijing Yichuang Health.

At the event, 20 high-quality projects delivered impressive pitch presentations. Below are brief introductions to the projects participating in this competition’s pitch session:


I. Medical Device Sector

Project Name: Bei'ersheng


Project Overview: Dedicated to the research and development, manufacturing, and sales of bioactive artificial bone repair materials—Class III medical devices. The company holds a globally leading position in the field of artificial bone repair materials and bone regeneration technology. It has developed and produced a series of products for orthopedics and dentistry, which are marketed across North America, South America, Europe, and Asia.

Project Overview: Backed by a highly capable team with nearly 20 years of experience in the software and hardware development of genetic testing instruments, reagent R&D, and the manufacturing of instruments and reagents, we specialize in POCT and mid-to-high-end genetic testing technologies (such as digital PCR). Our core offerings are instrument-reagent systems built on cost-effective solutions and proprietary patented technologies.

Project Name: Pinsheng Bio


Project Overview: The company is primarily engaged in the research, development, manufacturing, sales, and clinical screening services of AI-based cancer cell diagnostics. Its core business includes oncology detection equipment, in vitro diagnostic (IVD) reagents, and medical software systems. By integrating its independently developed AI technology for cervical cancer screening and diagnosis with internet platforms, it has provided high-quality, low-cost cervical cancer screening services to tens of millions of women in China.

Project Overview: A company specializing in the ultrasound field, providing portable, non-invasive diagnostic ultrasound medical equipment and services. The company possesses its proprietary original imaging platform, as well as multiple key technologies including original elastography and non-elastography techniques, and 3D Doppler spectral imaging, which can be used for screening various diseases.

Project Name: Xingfu Yisheng


Project Overview: The Academician and Expert Workstation and Postdoctoral Workstation of the Regenerative Medicine Institute currently host 22 academicians from the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the Chinese Academy of Engineering, as well as other experts. Regesi regenerative medicine materials simultaneously bond and repair human soft and bone tissues, demonstrating novelty, inventiveness, and practicality. The product has been included in the National Catalogue of New Materials issued by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of China. The entity has successfully obtained certification for Class III Innovative Medical Devices at the national level, been recognized as a National High-Tech Enterprise, and designated as a Key Engineering Project of Beijing Municipality.

Project Name: Asia-Pacific Healthcare


Project Overview: Developed two Asia-Pacific exclusive advanced medical device technologies in the fields of stroke, cardiac arrest, ECMO (Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation), and peripheral vascular disease. The products have received approval from the U.S. FDA, China’s CFDA, and Taiwan’s TFDA, and secured funding from Nobel laureate Walter Gilbert and partners at Kleiner Perkins.

Project Overview: Located in the heart of Silicon Valley at Joinn Innovation Park and Start X, our R&D team comprises postdoctoral fellows and scientists from multiple prestigious U.S. universities. In 2017, we transferred our technology back to China, integrating it with mobile internet systems to specialize in rapid in vitro diagnostic instruments, reagents, and services, thereby providing high-quality mobile healthcare platforms for households.

Project Overview: Dedicated to providing comprehensive product and service solutions for cardiac rehabilitation. Leveraging over a decade of research accumulation by the Chinese Academy of Sciences, we have developed China’s only three-tier cardiac rehabilitation system—spanning hospitals, communities, and home care—that is truly based on the guidelines of the Chinese Society of Cardiac Rehabilitation and the “Five Major Prescriptions.”

II. Biomedical Sector

Project Overview: A research and development institution in the field of stem cell regeneration. Its R&D team leverages Nobel Prize-level technology, combined with the company’s proprietary patents, to reprogram monocytes from human blood into induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs), which are then efficiently and stably differentiated into cardiomyocytes.

Project Overview: A leading enterprise in Asia for the technology development, production, processing, sales, and technical services of agricultural biological agents, striving to become a premier provider of comprehensive industry solutions and setting a benchmark in China. This project features a new generation of highly effective biological agents developed by the Russian Federal Research Center for Biology, designed to increase crop yields and reduce heavy metal content. The patent holder is Academician Petrenko of the Russian Academy of Natural Sciences.

Project Overview: Wholly-owned subsidiary Shenox Pharmaceuticals in the United States, transferring a novel formulation technology platform from the U.S. A R&D-focused pharmaceutical company developing China Class 2 new drugs for transdermal delivery systems and oral films, as well as U.S. 505(b)(2) pathway psychotropic drugs and pediatric medications. A GMP-compliant laboratory has been established.

Project Overview: A developer of hand exoskeleton rehabilitation robots that leverages technologies such as motor imagery-based brain-computer interfaces (BCI) and adaptive deep learning algorithms. The company provides EEG-identified hand exoskeleton rehabilitation robots and autonomous rehabilitation training services for hand function and cerebral motor functional areas. Additionally, it offers products including parameter tuning for deep brain stimulation (DBS) surgery, BCI hardware and software, epilepsy warning systems, and electromyography (EMG)-powered exoskeleton assistive robots.

Project Name: CAS Digital Research Institute


Project Overview: A new-type R&D institution in healthcare initiated and established by the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), aiming to achieve the grand goal of “Healthy China.” Leveraging CAS’s world-class research achievements, it seeks to build and incubate a cluster of high-tech digital health industries. The Institute has established joint laboratories with partners such as the Chinese Academy of Sciences and Imperial College London. It has made significant breakthroughs in the assessment and measurement of human autonomic nervous system regulation and its applications in the prevention, early diagnosis, and rehabilitation of cardiopulmonary and metabolic diseases, as well as in sports biomechanics and its applications in sports health and rehabilitation. The Institute has applied for and holds 12 domestic invention patents and authorized patents in the United States and Europe, covering technologies such as motion capture systems, upper-limb rehabilitation assessment systems, micro-sensor-based 3D analysis systems, non-invasive continuous blood pressure monitoring systems, autonomic nervous system regulation measurement systems, mind-body harmony devices, and maternal and infant mental health regulation systems.
