ROBO Medical Expands Global Reach with ROBOGO and TARZAN ZERO Robotics Debut at MEDICA 2018

Nov 26, 2018 14:26 CST Updated 14:26

From November 12 to 15, 2018, Robo Medical made a stunning appearance at the 2018 MEDICA in Düsseldorf, Germany, showcasing its independently developed medical logistics robot ROBOGO, rehabilitation robot Tarzan, and other medical devices.

Distributors from Switzerland, China, Germany, the United Arab Emirates, the United States, and other countries have demonstrated strong interest in Luobo Medical’s products. Over the next 3–6 months, top-tier hospitals in these countries may begin deploying Luobo Medical’s products.

MEDICA, the International Medical Device Trade Fair

MEDICA is the world’s largest and most authoritative professional exhibition for hospitals, medical equipment, and supplies, ranking first among global medical trade fairs due to its unparalleled scale and influence. Organized annually by Messe Düsseldorf GmbH in Germany, the event attracted more than 5,000 exhibitors from 70 countries and nearly 140,000 professional visitors. The primary attendees included hospital procurement specialists, hospital administrators, traders, manufacturers, agents, distributors, and R&D personnel. Renowned in the global healthcare sector as a hallmark of new technologies and innovation, MEDICA is a major international gathering that integrates technology, commerce, and information.

ROBO: Making Healthcare Borderless

Amidst this star-studded exhibition, Robo Medical stood out, capturing the attention of distributors from around the world.

ROBO Medical was initially founded in Switzerland in 2014, incorporated in Silicon Valley, and is now headquartered in Shenzhen. Since its inception, ROBO Medical has been dedicated to addressing the global shortage of high-quality medical resources through medical robotics and artificial intelligence technologies. It is an R&D-focused enterprise in the field of medical robotics that has entered the stage of industrialization.

ROBO Medical’s research directions are divided into three major sectors: surgical robots, rehabilitation robots, and medical service robots. At this exhibition, ROBO is showcasing medical devices such as the ROBOGO autonomous medical vehicle and Tarzan, a lower-limb assessment and rehabilitation robot.

ROBOGO: Fully Automatic Elevator Access, Medical Unmanned Vehicle

Currently, over 95% of hospitals in China rely on a “dedicated delivery staff + handcart” model for internal logistics. As medical demand continues to rise, issues such as delivery delays, errors, difficulties in upgrading logistics systems, and excessive consumption of human resources have become increasingly prominent. To address the shortcomings in medical logistics, hospital logistics systems have undergone several generations of evolution: from the first-generation pneumatic tube systems, to the second-generation rail-based or box-type transport systems, and now to the third-generation logistics robots introduced by ROBO Company. These advancements aim to establish a standardized, end-to-end, manageable, and traceable process for intra-hospital delivery.

ROBOGO is the world’s first medical logistics robot equipped with VSLAM (Visual Simultaneous Localization and Mapping), jointly developed by ROBO and the Technical University of Munich. It pioneers the practical application of visual-laser fusion navigation in the industry. Leveraging VSLAM based on depth cameras, it directly calculates obstacle distances using collected point cloud data and enables fully automatic elevator boarding and alighting.

TARZAN ZERO: Non-Motor-Driven, Lightweight Intelligent Lower-Limb Assessment and Rehabilitation Robot

Traditional rehabilitation devices mostly rely on motors for power output, which limits their application scenarios due to constraints in size and weight. Tarzan Zero is an intelligent lower-limb assessment and rehabilitation training robot that does not use motors for power output, enabling professional rehabilitation training across various settings. Meanwhile, the device’s own weight is reduced, meeting patients’ personalized rehabilitation needs in multiple postures; it supports lower-limb rehabilitation training whether the patient is sitting, standing, or lying down.

TARZAN Zero is indicated for patients with hemiplegia resulting from stroke or spinal cord injury, patients in the postoperative rehabilitation phase following orthopedic and joint surgeries, and patients with poliomyelitis. It also aids in the prevention of deep vein thrombosis (DVT) in the lower extremities and disuse muscle atrophy. TARZAN Zero enables real-time interaction with hospital networks, facilitating real-time management of multi-motion data and visualization of medical data, allowing patients to view quantified rehabilitation outcomes.

At this year’s MEDICA trade fair, Robo Medical’s exhibited products stood out, drawing close attention from renowned experts and professors in the medical device industry as well as distributors from various countries. Robo Medical reached cooperation intentions with distributors from multiple nations. The intelligent autonomous hospital vehicle, ROBOGO, enhances hospital logistics efficiency, allowing healthcare professionals to focus more on delivering high-quality medical services. TARZAN Zero, lightweight and practical, enables lower-limb assessment and rehabilitation across diverse environments and postures.
