To raise awareness among men about their health and to help improve male reproductive health, Pfizer China entered into a strategic partnership with Jianke, a leading domestic internet-plus pharmaceutical and healthcare service platform, on November 29. Leveraging their respective leading advantages and proven expertise in their fields, the two parties will collaborate comprehensively across retail pharmacies, hospitals, and internet healthcare, with consumer engagement as the core focus. They aim to build an omni-channel retail system integrating online and offline platforms, enabling consumers to access Pfizer’s full range of products and services. Ren Xiaoxiu, General Manager of National Retail Business at Pfizer China, and Xie Fangmin, President of Jianke, signed the strategic cooperation agreement on the same day.

In 2016, the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and the State Council issued the Outline of the “Healthy China 2030” Plan, which explicitly called for attention to reproductive health, popularization of knowledge on contraception and reproductive health, and promotion of national health. “Male reproductive health” is a vital component of achieving universal health; it is not only a key focus for China’s future health and hygiene sector but also a new engine driving the development of the broader health industry.

“The launch of the Healthy China Initiative has provided impetus for the development of men’s reproductive health. As a foreign pharmaceutical company with a 30-year presence in China, we have remained committed to our mission of ‘Partnering to Build a Healthy China,’ deeply cultivating the Chinese retail market and achieving leading sales shares across all channels for our core brands.”

“However, due to the sensitivity of keywords associated with men’s health products, we lack effective tools for patient acquisition, making it difficult to reach a broader patient population. Our original intention in partnering with Jianke was to ensure that every male patient has equitable access to high-quality medical services and medications,” said Ren Xiaoxiu, General Manager. “Standardizing and promoting ‘Internet + Healthcare’ services is also a key component of the Healthy China Strategy. In line with this strategic call, Pfizer will pioneer new models of internet-based healthcare services, comprehensively establish a telemedicine application system, and develop smart, convenient, and affordable healthcare services, thereby realizing our 2020 vision of ‘omni-channel, all-product collaboration for comprehensive men’s health.’”

To this end, as part of its current strategic planning, Pfizer China will leverage Jianke’s internet-based new retail channel infrastructure to establish its own B2C and O2O frameworks, thereby opening up new sales channels. Meanwhile, by tapping into Jianke’s network of 6,000 andrology specialists from Grade A tertiary hospitals across China, Pfizer will integrate mobile healthcare solutions with its product portfolio to meet the growing patient demand for high-quality health products and promote greater awareness of men’s health.

President Xie Fangmin also attaches great importance to this collaboration: “We are deeply honored to partner with a globally leading pharmaceutical company. As one of China’s top 10 pharmaceutical e-commerce enterprises, Jianke is committed to its mission of ‘making everyone healthier’ and strives to become the most trusted smart health service platform for the general public. We have signed direct drug supply agreements with pharmaceutical manufacturers and established a comprehensive drug safety assurance system through the application of blockchain technology. Our professional team, composed of dedicated physicians and pharmacists, provides patients with cost-effective, comprehensive chronic disease management services. Since 2017, we have fully invested in laying out our internet healthcare strategy, launching a model that integrates physical hospitals with internet-based medical services. Today, with our extensive network of pharmacies and a highly competent retail team, we provide significant support for the promotion and sales of pharmaceutical products.”

It is reported that following the agreement, the two parties will engage in comprehensive cooperation in 2019. Jianke will launch more of Pfizer’s new products across all channels, particularly Pfizer’s blockbuster drugs, thereby achieving the full online availability of Pfizer’s product portfolio. In 2020, both parties will continue to advance men’s health initiatives by providing patient education through science popularization and promotional campaigns, thereby enhancing patient adherence. These efforts aim to empower male patients to confront their conditions directly and initiate a precision management model for men’s holistic health on e-commerce platforms.

The strategic signing ceremony between the two parties was held on the same day at the Jianke Doctor Brand Upgrade and 2018 Partners Conference, hosted by Jianke. As a key business segment of Jianke’s “Healthcare + Pharmaceuticals” model, Jianke Doctor announced a comprehensive upgrade on that day. The company plans to enhance the drug traceability security system through blockchain technology, improve the efficiency and quality of online consultation services via AI medical technologies, refine chronic disease management through single-disease subtype management, elevate patient education services through Health Headlines, and expand its nationwide physician coverage resources by deploying internet hospitals. Xie Fangmin stated that, in the future, Jianke will adopt an omnichannel model and collaborate with Pfizer to jointly promote the development of China’s men’s general health consumer market.
