VCBeat (WeChat: vcbeat) learned from foreign media that Fluidic Analytics, a biotechnology company based in Cambridgeshire, UK, recently announced it had secured $31 million in funding. The round was led by Draper Esprit, with participation from new investors Delin Ventures and BGF, as well as existing investors IQ Capital and Amadeus Capital Partners. This marks the third time Draper Esprit has invested in Fluidic Analytics since the company’s initial funding round in 2015.
The newly injected capital will be used to develop Fluidic Analytics’ protein characterization instruments, further explore the clinical application value of its technology, and accelerate the commercialization of its laboratory-focused tool pipeline.
Fluidic Analytics, founded in 2013 and headquartered in Cambridgeshire, UK, is a spin-off from the Department of Chemistry at the University of Cambridge, dedicated to developing instruments for protein characterization. The company has previously raised approximately $9.7 million across three rounds of financing.

Fluidic Analytics’ technical support is derived from a technology platform developed at the University of Cambridge, which enables rapid protein characterization based on the physical properties that determine protein function. Since proteins are analyzed in solution and in their native state during this process—without the need for surfaces, matrices, or ionization—the company believes this platform offers its customers a unique method for quantitative protein analysis, a capability that Fluidic Analytics claims is unattainable with other methods.
Currently, Fluidic Analytics is developing its first product, the Fluidity One. The Fluidity One is the inaugural offering in its planned product series. This device enables rapid determination of protein size at low concentrations, thereby assisting researchers in optimizing protein production strategies. Furthermore, it allows scientists to assess protein folding, aggregation, and degradation through a streamlined workflow that requires only minimal sample volumes.
Dr. Andrew Lynn, a Cambridge University graduate who focuses on early-stage opportunities in the life sciences and technology sectors, is the founder of Fluidic Analytics. Fluidic Analytics is not Dr. Lynn’s first venture. In 2005, he founded Orthomimetics, a regenerative medical device company based on his doctoral thesis at Cambridge University, and sold it in 2011 to TiGenix, a Belgian biopharmaceutical company. Under his leadership, Orthomimetics successfully raised £7.5 million in venture capital and grants, and brought its lead clinical product through pilot stages to market launch.
