Recently, VCBeat learned that Xiaoniao Health, a medical institution specializing in health management services based on laboratory testing products and services, has completed tens of millions of RMB in Series A financing. The investing institutions have not yet been disclosed.
Bird Health was established in 2015 as an internet healthcare institution with qualifications for general practice and licenses for online medical services. It operates several business segments and brands, including Bird Quick Lab, Bird Quick Consultation, and Bode Medical. Its services now cover more than ten major cities across China, including Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Chengdu, and Nanjing.
According to Sun Yue, founder and CEO of Xiaoniao Health, the funds from this round will be primarily used to expand the market presence of Xiaoniao Kuaiyan, a business line under Xiaoniao Health, covering more cities and enhancing its products and services.
Four Major Products Covering Both B2B and B2C Segments, Leveraging Diagnostics to Enter Health Management Services
In the current clinical laboratory market, users often encounter pain points when undergoing early screening or disease management, such as uncertainty about which tests to order, overcrowded hospitals and testing facilities, high costs of medical laboratory services, and poor service quality.
Xiao Niao Kuai Yan’s products are grounded in medical laboratory testing and tailored to customer and market demands by integrating diagnostic resources for personalized product customization. This approach establishes an information channel between laboratories and consumers, empowering individuals to select testing services that meet their specific health needs, rather than passively accepting pre-packaged health checkup bundles offered by hospitals or examination centers.
Meanwhile, as an integral component of health management, Xiaoniao Kuaiyan serves as a supplement to hospitals and physical examination centers by offering cutting-edge medical testing products, such as those for “early disease screening” and “medication guidance.” On the other hand, it fills gaps in the health management market by providing services including the establishment of personal health records, chronic disease monitoring, lifestyle habit guidance, and personalized health check-up planning.

Unlike the “one-size-fits-all” approach commonly seen in hospitals and traditional checkup centers, Xiao Niao Kuai Yan designs personalized health screening packages tailored to individuals of different genders, occupations, and age groups. For example, it offers hundreds of customized checkup packages targeting specific populations such as domestic workers, the elderly, and sedentary individuals. By providing individualized services including home-based sample collection and self-sampling options, the company delivers more comprehensive health management solutions. In terms of health report interpretation, specialist physicians at Xiao Niao Kuai Yan provide professional analysis and personalized health recommendations based on customers’ test results and brief consultations.

Xiaoniao Kuaiyan has established its own in-house R&D team to conduct research and development in areas underserved by hospitals and health checkup centers, thereby addressing gaps in early screening. By employing early screening methods to detect diseases with ambiguous presentations, it aims to reduce the incidence of severe illnesses. Currently, Xiaoniao Kuaiyan has launched products such as a seven-antibody panel for early lung cancer screening and genetic susceptibility testing for breast and ovarian cancers.

Fourth, healthy lifestyle products. Designed for daily health monitoring in healthy individuals, these products leverage genetic testing and other methods to guide dietary and exercise habits, while enabling dynamic management of various physiological indicators to deliver comprehensive health management services.

It is reported that Xiaoniao Health achieved profitability in 2018, with its enterprise and individual user bases each accounting for half of the total. Similarly, Xiaoniao Kuaiyan customizes health screening packages for corporate clients and provides on-site physical examination services to their employees, thereby enhancing employee satisfaction and participation rates while reducing corporate healthcare costs. On the backend of its testing services, the company collaborates with multiple online consultation platforms, leveraging preliminary test reports to facilitate further diagnosis and analysis by physicians.
Covering more than 5,000 test items, connecting the upstream and downstream of the industry chain
Xiao Niao Kuai Yan integrates three types of testing resources—third-party medical laboratories, self-built laboratories, and public hospital laboratories—to form a comprehensive medical testing platform covering 31 provinces, municipalities, and autonomous regions across China, with access to over 100 laboratories.
Unlike simple at-home testing services, Xiaoniao Kuaiyan is primarily based on testing products and services, positioning itself as a medical institution focused on health management. Its testing products are not limited to basic in-hospital tests such as complete blood count (CBC), but rather encompass multi-dimensional testing across blood, genetics, imaging, and other areas, tailored to diverse user needs to create professional and practical testing solutions.

In addition to common blood tests and genetic testing, mobile diagnostic services such as electrocardiograms (ECG) and B-mode ultrasound are also provided. The test menu covers over 5,000 items, including analyses of blood, urine, instrumental examinations, tissue samples, and genetic testing.
In terms of qualifications, all medical consumables offered by Xiaoniao Kuaiyan hold the relevant licenses and comply with healthcare industry regulations for storage and transportation. Medical devices provided to individual users are single-person packaged, individually coded, and fully traceable throughout the entire supply chain.
Although primarily leveraging the internet as its main platform and medium, Xiaoniao Health is not limited to online services; it has also established a nearly 1,000-square-meter general practice clinic offline. This facility primarily supports product research and development as well as sample testing workflows, ensuring authoritative and accurate test results.
Xiao Niao Kuai Yan employs approximately 3,000 full-time and part-time physicians and nurses, along with a product R&D team of more than ten members. All medical personnel are required to hold valid professional licenses during their service period. Furthermore, feedback and follow-up mechanisms are implemented to ensure quality control of services.
In the development of internet-based healthcare, the high cost of acquiring consumer-facing customers has become a major challenge.
