Provider of Comprehensive Genetic Testing Solutions
In 2018, Gloriousmed, after its restructuring and relaunch, secured Series A financing from the internationally renowned investment firm Allspring Healthcare Investments. This funding enabled Gloriousmed to expand its team and market presence, growing its workforce from over 70 to more than 150 employees, while extending its sales footprint from five provinces to over twenty provinces and municipalities across China.
Comprehensive Management of Precision Diagnosis and Treatment for TumorsThe comprehensive management of precision diagnosis and treatment for tumors aims to assist clinical practice in the precise diagnosis and treatment of cancer patients at different stages of disease progression through molecular-level testing, including genomics, proteomics, and transcriptomics. Taking prostate cancer as an example, Gloriousmed achieves whole-course management for prostate cancer patients by conducting genomic analysis, ranging from prognosis assessment for locally advanced prostate cancer to precise molecular subtyping, medication guidance, and recurrence monitoring for castration-resistant prostate cancer. Urologic oncology is one of Gloriousmed’s core business areas. The company has participated in and jointly promoted the consensus on precision diagnosis and treatment as well as industrialization in urology across China, and has collaborated with clinical experts to establish the Chinese Alliance for Precision Diagnosis and Treatment of Prostate Cancer.
“I believe this is a highly pioneering endeavor. We will also engage in and diligently build more closed-loop, full-process precision diagnosis and treatment management systems for distinctive cancer types,” said Jin Ge, CEO of Gloriousmed.
China’s urologic oncology treatment technologies are among the most advanced globally, yet previously most physicians believed that gene sequencing played a limited role in diagnosis and treatment. After a year of dedicated effort, Gloriousmed completed the foundational research and product design for urologic tumor testing, established clinical cohort studies in collaboration with physicians, and published international academic articles.

“We have gradually established a closed-loop system for precision diagnosis and treatment of urologic oncology in China, encompassing pharmaceutical partnerships, clinical decision support for physicians, patient education, academic publications, the accumulation of the largest and most comprehensive cohort and data for specific cancer subtypes in China, and product standardization,” Jin Ge revealed to VCBeat. Over the past year, they have covered the top 100 hospitals nationwide in the field of urologic oncology, advancing alongside the industrialization of precision therapy for urologic cancers in China.
As a serial entrepreneur, Jin Ge believes that the true value of an enterprise lies in creating value for customers, jokingly referring to this as “creating glory for customers.” In 2018, they collaborated with more outstanding young urologists from China to step onto the international academic stage, bringing more precise diagnosis and treatment to a greater number of patients. They are actively developing in vitro diagnostic (IVD) products focused on urology, and achieved perfect scores in all domestic and international external quality assessment (EQA) programs in 2018. Currently, they continue to meticulously refine every detail of their delivery system and rapidly advance the company’s informatization initiatives.
In addition to urology, Gloriousmed has also conducted multiple cohort studies in the fields of tumor immunotherapy and dynamic monitoring for hepatobiliary and thoracic cancers, further strengthening its product design and foundational R&D capabilities.
“Return to the essence of business: focus on building quality products, deliver reliable services, and cultivate a long-term reputation. Whether or not we are in the spotlight is irrelevant to us; entrepreneurship is a sprint-style marathon,” said Jin Ge. Despite the company’s strong momentum following its Series A financing round, Jin Ge remained remarkably low-key and humble.
In 2018, “Opdivo” and “Keytruda” were launched successively, with their pricing in China so low that it stunned the industry. “Previously, everyone regarded tumor immunotherapies as something elite and inaccessible, but in reality, they are simply a treatment modality.” In her view, immunotherapy is a treatment modality. Beyond immunotherapy, cancer treatment must involve a combination of various old and new techniques, including surgery, radiotherapy, chemotherapy, targeted therapies, and potentially oncolytic viruses in the future.
“Combination therapy is the future trend, and immunotherapy is a powerful tool; technological iterations are already in place,” she remarked. In the future, the trend of tumor immunology and combination therapies is likely to evolve in tandem with broader healthcare system reforms. For Gloriousmed, which focuses on comprehensive management throughout the entire process of precision oncology diagnosis and treatment, its mission is to leverage the best technologies and services to establish optimal clinical decision-support mechanisms, assisting physicians and helping patients address clinical challenges.
“The market is large enough, and I believe the future holds great promise.” Discussing the outlook for the tumor immunotherapy market, Jin Ge stated, “Technological reserves and channel operational capabilities will be the core.”
Throughout 2018, Gloriousmed focused on technical research and product refinement in the field of precision diagnosis and treatment for urologic oncology. Prostate cancer is the most common cancer among men in the United States. In China, it ranks sixth in incidence among male malignancies. With increasing life expectancy and rising living standards, the incidence of prostate cancer has shown a year-on-year upward trend. The CONCORD-3 study published in 2018 indicated that the five-year survival rate for prostate cancer in China was approximately 69.2%, compared to only 19.8% for lung cancer. Although the incidence of prostate cancer is significantly lower than that of lung cancer, its market potential remains substantial.
“There is still so much we can do, from early screening, diagnosis, and treatment of prostate cancer to combination therapies in the era of immunotherapy, as well as long-term patient management,” stated Jin Ge. “Horizontally, we need to excel in precision immuno-oncology companion diagnostics; vertically, we aim to engage in comprehensive, full-course management of precise diagnosis and treatment tailored to specific cancer types. We aspire to develop tools and methodologies within China’s urologic oncology field, creating a closed-loop system that is both implementable and capable of delivering genuine synergistic value.”

Collaborating with top-tier hospital experts in specific cancer subtypes—prostate cancer, kidney cancer, and bladder tumors—Gloriousmed has partnered with leading urology centers across China, including Shanghai Renji Hospital, Changhai Hospital, Peking University First Hospital, West China Hospital, and Fudan University Shanghai Cancer Center. As pioneers in Chinese urology, these institutions have engaged in multifaceted collaborations with Gloriousmed, covering every aspect from foundational R&D to product design. All requirements are driven by clinical needs.
Unlike other liquid biopsy companies, Gloriousmed has not joined the rush into early screening services; instead, it has centered all its products on the treatment phase. “Our focus is on how to treat tumors, select medications, and assess prognosis after a cancer diagnosis. Our mission is to support physicians in clinical decision-making and serve as their most effective tool.”
Clinical needs are the most important starting point for the oncology diagnosis and treatment industry. Observing global trends in drug development, an increasing number of companies are laying out innovative drugs in urology.
“Among domestic companies developing innovative drugs for urologic oncology, the majority are collaborating with us on clinical-stage drug development,” Jin Ge revealed to VCBeat. Underpinning these collaborations is Gloriousmed’s accumulation of data and support from cohort studies. “Our cohort is the most comprehensive, and we have extracted the largest amount of data,” she added.
Taking prostate cancer as an example, patients have a relatively long life expectancy and can survive for 8–10 years. “We assist physicians with follow-up visits and patient management, providing patients with comprehensive diagnostic and therapeutic services throughout the entire care continuum,” she continued. In terms of underlying R&D and product design, Gloriousmed has always been patient-centric, committed to helping improve the diagnosis and treatment of urologic oncology in China. Through this approach, the company is able to consolidate physician and patient resources on its platform, creating value for both clients and patients while generating returns for itself.
Compared with urology, the patient population for hepatobiliary and thoracic-lung cancers is larger, and Gloriousmed laid the groundwork in this area in 2018. Jin Ge revealed that the company would further explore these fields in 2019.
“In 2019, our strategy remained focused on urology, aiming to witness and drive industry development,” said Jin Ge. “Solidly advancing product development and foundational R&D are the two most critical priorities.”
Focusing on a single cancer type, Gloriousmed has introduced diverse methodologies and omics platforms. However, beyond foundational basic science, as a commercial enterprise, it must further explore the ultimate applications of its products and develop one-stop solutions. “We provide clinical decision support for precise diagnosis and treatment to clinical experts; offer reliable potential drug development targets to pharmaceutical companies; and furnish a clinical validation platform for tumor immunology researchers, ultimately enabling patients with advanced-stage tumors to achieve prolonged high-quality survival. We are on this journey,” stated Jin Ge.
