On January 20, the inaugural China “Emergency and Critical Care Technology Innovation Competition” will be held at the Hunan Building in Beijing. Organized by the Emergency Medicine Branch of the Chinese Geriatrics Society, the competition aims to integrate the upstream and downstream industry chains, bringing together innovative enterprises, authoritative experts, forward-looking investors, and government officials. The goal is to identify technological innovation projects that genuinely contribute to advancing emergency and critical care services in China, thereby pioneering an integrated approach to emergency and critical care treatment.

Sea, Land, and Air Rescue Platform Aviation Rescue Alliance Information Consulting


Currently, China has approximately 130 million outdoor sports enthusiasts. In 2017, the population aged 60 and above reached 240 million. In 2016, there were 300,000 road traffic accidents in China caused by vehicles bearing liability. Integrated land, sea, and air rescue platforms will significantly address the challenges of emergency response to sudden accidents.


The integrated land, sea, and air rescue platform has developed a mobile app, WeChat Mini Program, and WeChat Official Account, inviting inter-hospital transport companies, air ambulance services, ground rescue teams, water rescue units, and pre-hospital emergency centers to register free of charge as rescue service providers on the platform. When customers require assistance, they can send distress signals and call the platform’s 24/7 hotline at 400-069-9958 to report their situation, thereby receiving coordinated service arrangements.

Heart Rescue (ECMO) Project Huaxin Medical Devices


Data indicates that China records 540,000 cases of sudden cardiac death annually, with an average of approximately 1,500 deaths per day due to cardiac arrest, ranking highest globally. There are currently over 29,000 hospitals in China, yet the penetration rate of Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO) remains below 0.5%. Conservatively estimated, every 1% increase in penetration rate corresponds to a market size growth of approximately RMB 430 million (covering equipment procurement costs only, excluding consumables, related training, etc.). Furthermore, out-of-hospital application scenarios are more diverse, as over 60% of sudden cardiac deaths in China occur outside hospital settings, indicating substantial growth potential for the ECMO application market.


Huaxin Medical Devices is primarily dedicated to the research and development of medical devices for cardiac diseases. After eight years of technological R&D, its third-generation heart-saving product, now finalized and named the “Life Rescue Machine,” is mainly used for pre-hospital emergency care and for rescuing myocardial infarction patients both in and out of hospital settings. The product is currently undergoing medical device regulatory submission and has already obtained an invention patent certificate from the China National Intellectual Property Administration. The company is currently conducting a Pre-A financing round, aiming to raise RMB 20 million to cover expenses related to product approval, materials, factory construction, and marketing.

Coagulation and Platelet Function Analyzer | Century Yikang Medical Technology


IVD-POCT has emerged in recent years as a key development direction and the fastest-growing segment within the in vitro diagnostics industry. Century Clot is a point-of-care testing (POCT) device capable of rapidly identifying patients’ coagulation disorders, thereby enabling prompt assessment of impending hemorrhage or thrombosis. According to data, by the end of March 2018, there were 993,000 medical and health institutions nationwide in China, including 31,000 hospitals. This indicates a substantial clinical market potential for coagulation and platelet function analyzers.


The Coagulation and Platelet Function Analyzer, known as CENTURY CLOT, is a monitoring product that employs intelligent digital technology to describe the entire coagulation process. It is primarily used for rapid, convenient, and safe point-of-care testing in clinical settings. This technological product has secured multiple independent intellectual property invention patents, received national-level high-tech enterprise certification, and has been included in the national healthcare reform’s basic vital signs billing items. It is the first domestic point-of-care rapid diagnostic device for hemostasis and thrombosis. The device enables the timely detection of patients’ hemostatic and coagulation abnormalities, allowing for rapid assessment of impending hemorrhage or thrombosis. It fills the gap left by conventional testing methods and transforms empirical diagnosis into precision diagnosis.

R&D and Application of Next-Generation Anti-Infective Technologies Jiahu Co., Ltd.

In China, the output value of emergency and medical products and services in fields such as fire and security, emergency communications, disaster prevention and mitigation, and counter-terrorism has reached nearly one trillion yuan, with oxygen supply remaining a critical component of emergency first aid.


What sets Shandong Yingpaite’s mobile multi-functional gas source system apart is its use of proprietary technology to ensure a continuous supply of high-pressure oxygen while in motion. This meets the high-pressure oxygen demands of emergency equipment such as ventilators and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) machines, while simultaneously providing a relatively clean environment (within the vehicle or room) for on-site emergency treatment. Onboard, it can replace traditional oxygen cylinders for continuous gas supply. Data show that the prevalence of hypertension among Chinese adults aged 18 and above is 33.5%, corresponding to 330 million affected individuals. Hypertension-related deaths account for 41% of all national deaths, with 2 million deaths annually attributed to hypertension. The Medium- and Long-Term Plan for the Prevention and Control of Chronic Diseases in China (2017–2025) proposes increasing the number of individuals under hypertension management from 88.35 million to 110 million by 2025. Based on an average per-capita disease management expenditure of RMB 2,600, the market size is projected to reach RMB 295 billion.

Intelligent 12-Lead ECG Consultation System Beijing Wuweikang Technology


Cardiovascular accidents are currently the most prevalent diseases, with mortality rates remaining persistently high. Early detection plays a crucial role in emergency treatment and rehabilitation. China currently has 290 million patients with cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases. Wuweikang Technology is committed to developing a simple and rapid early warning system for cardiovascular emergencies, significantly reducing the risk of disease onset and ensuring timely medical intervention for patients.


Wuweikang Technology’s intelligent 12-lead ECG device enables precise localization in the diagnosis of myocardial infarction, myocardial ischemia, and arrhythmias—a capability unattainable by single-lead, three-lead, or composite-lead systems—thereby meeting medical-grade standards. It has been granted a national invention patent for its integrated electrodes, offering greater convenience than traditional ECG machines while eliminating the inaccuracies associated with movable electrode placement. Furthermore, its software system boasts strong compatibility; when ports are open, it can integrate with blood pressure, blood glucose, and blood oxygen monitors from other brands, enabling unified measurement and data management. The device is simple to operate, intelligent, and designed for single-user use with remote assistance capabilities. It is the only portable ECG device capable of providing early warnings for cardiovascular emergencies such as myocardial infarction.It is reported that this ECG consultation system (including hardware, software, and system integration methods) has accumulated over 70,000 ECG records and more than 4,000 registered users since its research, development, testing, and pilot sales began.


Additionally, the Organizing Committee has specially recommended a project for live demonstration, aiming to inspire new perspectives and explore novel pathways from the physician’s standpoint; this project will not be included in the competition evaluation.


Reflections and Explorations on the Application of Artificial Intelligence in Real-World Medical Scenarios Department of Emergency Medicine, Beijing Tiantan Hospital, Capital Medical University


Currently, the development and application of artificial intelligence in the healthcare sector are primarily concentrated on three models, with a lack of extensive exploration and research into the AI-driven integration of advanced medical diagnostic monitoring systems and therapeutic systems.


The Tiantan-Tsinghua Smart Healthcare Research Team has embarked on this direction, integrating real-world scenarios of emergency and critical care to focus on applying artificial intelligence technologies to connect life monitoring and support systems, thereby filling gaps in the field of medical AI. Currently, the project is in the research and exploration phase, having completed database construction, extraction of key information, as well as the development and debugging of AI models.It is reported that the Tiantan-Tsinghua Smart Healthcare Research Team is an interdisciplinary team composed of medical staff from the Emergency Department of Beijing Tiantan Hospital and researchers primarily dedicated to AI technology development at the School of Software, Tsinghua University. At the outset of their collaboration, the team secured second place in the National Emergency Medicine Big Data Datathon Competition.


With the National Health Commission’s issuance of the “Notice on Deepening Internet + Medical and Health Services to Facilitate and Benefit the Public,” coupled with the accelerating aging of China’s population, emergency and critical care has gradually moved from the periphery to the forefront. At this optimal juncture, some innovators have taken the lead; the question remains which business model will truly unlock the vast blue-ocean market of emergency and critical care.
