China’s First Smart Medical Clinic Established in Hangzhou Xiaoshan Information Port Town
VCBeat (WeChat ID: vcbeat) has learned that on January 18, China’s first intelligent infirmary, independently developed by WeDoctor, was established in the Hangzhou Xiaoshan Information Port Town. Henceforth, more than 20,000 entrepreneurs and innovators in the town will be able to access a new model of healthcare services—integrating “online + offline” and “general practice + specialty care”—without leaving the town, via the Information Port Intelligent Infirmary.
Ye Jianhong, Member of the Standing Committee of the Xiaoshan District Committee of the Communist Party of China, Secretary of the Party Working Committee and Director of the Administrative Committee of Xiaoshan Economic and Technological Development Zone; Han Menglong, Director of the Economic Development Bureau of Xiaoshan Economic and Technological Development Zone and Secretary of the Party Committee of Hangzhou Bay Information Port; and He Chao, Senior Vice President of WeDoctor Group and CEO of WeDoctor Healthcare, attended the launch ceremony and delivered speeches. Fu Xiaojun, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and General Manager of Hangzhou Bay Information Port, along with HR representatives from enterprises in the park and representatives from WeDoctor General Practice Center, also participated in the launch ceremony.
According to 2017 data, there were 29.0723 million registered enterprises in mainland China. The White Paper on the Health of Urban White-Collar Workers in China, released by organizations such as the Chinese Medical Doctor Association and the Chinese Hospital Association, indicates that approximately 70% of employees are in a state of "sub-health." The phenomenon of health depletion is most severe among elite professionals and corporate executives, with sub-health rates reaching 91% and 86%, respectively. High-quality health management services not only serve as a benefit to attract top talent but also effectively control health risk factors among employees, enabling early screening, diagnosis, and treatment, thereby reducing morbidity and hospitalization rates.
Xiaoshan Information Port Town, characterized by its focus on “Internet+” and “AI+,” has vigorously developed its digital economy industry, attracting over 20,000 high-caliber talents from home and abroad to embark on entrepreneurial and innovative ventures. Director Han Menglong stated that, as a young town, it boasts an average entrepreneur age of 26.4 years—a demographic known for its youth and drive. However, given the high pressure and intensity associated with work in the digital economy sector, there is an urgent need for a convenient and efficient “medical clinic” that functions like a dedicated private physician, addressing entrepreneurs’ daily healthcare needs and alleviating concerns that may hinder their entrepreneurial endeavors.
“Appropriate and needed employee benefits can help companies attract and retain top talent, with health benefits being one such example. However, not every company has professional medical staff on hand. When employees encounter common issues like headaches, abdominal pain, or stomachaches at work, they either spend half a day traveling to the hospital, registering, and waiting in line, or they endure the discomfort and push through their work,” said Ms. Fang, Human Resources Director at a company in Information Port. Since the establishment of the Information Port Smart Infirmary, employees have gained access to more convenient and professional medical guidance, enabling rapid and expert treatment for illnesses and better reflecting humane care for staff.

Smart Infirmary Launches Remote Health Consultation Services
It is understood that the WeDoctor Smart Infirmary consists of an intelligent mobile medical all-in-one unit, a smart medicine cabinet, and WeDoctor’s integrated online-offline health service system. It provides daily health services including diagnosis and treatment of common diseases, 12 vital signs examinations, online specialist consultations or multidisciplinary consultations, offline medical care, medical navigation assistance, health lectures, and first aid training.
Among these, the intelligent mobile medical all-in-one unit is equipped with CFDA-certified telemedicine devices, facilitating 12 vital signs examinations while also enabling online consultations. Meanwhile, the intelligent self-service medication cabinet functions as a compact “unmanned warehouse,” stocking dozens of common medications; employees can purchase prescription drugs by presenting an electronic prescription issued by a physician.

Employees can place orders to purchase medications directly.
“Ensuring high quality is our primary objective. All online physicians in our smart infirmaries are attending physicians or above, while specialist consultations are primarily conducted by specialists with associate senior titles or higher. Our nursing staff are experienced professionals from Grade A tertiary hospitals,” introduced He Chao. The offline WeDoctor General Practice Centers, the smart infirmaries deployed within institutions, and various WeDoctor products covering medicine, healthcare, and insurance together form a “pyramid system.” Leveraging WeDoctor’s network of over 2,700 key hospitals and 260,000 doctors, this system enables institutional users such as enterprises, communities, schools, and nursing homes to access medical care and manage health without leaving their premises. This truly achieves the goal of “handling 50% of common diseases and health maintenance at home, completing 35% of disease diagnosis and treatment at nearby medical bases, and addressing 15% of complex cases at major hospitals.”
Director Han Menglong stated that the coordinated development of ecology, production, and daily life—encapsulated in the phrase “a triple blessing”—is the developmental goal pursued by Xiaoshan Information Port Town, which places significant emphasis on the construction of medical support facilities. Currently, the WeDoctor General Practice Center and the WeDoctor Smart Infirmary are fully operational; the Huatuo Internet Traditional Chinese Medicine Clinic is poised to commence operations; and the Hangzhou Third People’s Hospital Economic and Technological Development Zone Branch has already broken ground. Furthermore, the WeDoctor International Medical Center, a collaborative initiative between WeDoctor Group, Harvard University, and Zhejiang University, has received approval from the relevant departments of the Hangzhou Municipal Government and completed its planning phase. By progressively enhancing specialized medical infrastructure, the town aims to alleviate health-related concerns for entrepreneurs operating within its premises.
Director Ye Jianhong extended his heartfelt congratulations on the establishment of the Smart Infirmary at Information Port, emphasizing that Information Port Town should take the lead in advancing the healthcare sector. The Smart Infirmary should not only demonstrate the “intelligence” of internet and artificial intelligence technologies but also showcase its “capability” to provide health security for entrepreneurs, ensuring that employees receive timely, proactive, and comprehensive medical care. He expressed the hope that, with a service-first approach, further development in smart healthcare will be pursued to accelerate the exploration and implementation of new healthcare models in Xiaoshan.
