On January 14, the 8th China Philanthropy Festival was grandly held in Beijing. Under the theme “Philanthropy Creates a Better Future,” the event aimed to jointly promote the new development of philanthropy in China. As the child vaccination service platform with the largest user base nationwide, Xiaodoumiao has received widespread recognition from all sectors of society for its diverse philanthropic initiatives, including improving vaccination experiences, popularizing health knowledge, and conducting a series of offline public welfare activities. It was honored with the “Annual Responsible Brand Award.”
Established in 2011, the China Philanthropy Festival aims to promote the spirit of public welfare and advocate for philanthropic actions. It has now become a highly influential annual event in the field of charity and public welfare. The festival facilitates sharing and discussions on topics such as “technology for public good,” “targeted poverty alleviation,” “education philanthropy,” “internet-based public welfare,” and “corporate social responsibility,” thereby contributing to the sustainable development of the public welfare sector.
Since its establishment four years ago, Xiaodoumiao has been dedicated to building an “Internet + Vaccination” service platform. It now provides one-stop, scientific, intelligent, and personalized vaccination management services for parents of more than 17 million children across China. Through the Xiaodoumiao APP, internet-based services are also made accessible to impoverished and remote areas, as well as regions with a large number of left-behind children.
Xiao Dou Miao has fully leveraged the advantages of its internet platform to vigorously carry out precise health science popularization. As of December 2018, the “Mom’s Classroom” section of the Xiao Dou Miao APP had published over 1,800 original science popularization articles, with cumulative views reaching more than 170 million. In the “Ask a Doctor” section, Xiao Dou Miao organized vaccination doctors and child healthcare experts to provide free consultations to the public, serving over 3 million users. During periods of high incidence of diseases such as influenza and hand, foot, and mouth disease, local Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDCs) used the APP to push targeted science popularization articles and vaccination notifications, ensuring that parents received accurate, timely, and efficient information, thereby safeguarding the health of children in areas with high disease prevalence.
Xiao Dou Miao has also conducted over 60 “Internet + Vaccination” training sessions in impoverished areas of Guizhou Province, cumulatively providing vaccination services to 170,000 parents across 34 national-level key poverty-stricken counties in the province. This initiative has precisely reached the majority of left-behind children aged 0–3 years in Guizhou’s impoverished regions, enabling migrant working parents to access their children’s vaccination records and schedule immunizations through the Xiao Dou Miao platform. This has significantly alleviated the workload of township health centers and village doctors in identifying and administering missed doses, improved the rate of missed vaccinations among left-behind children, and contributed to a notable increase in vaccination coverage.
Xiao Dou Miao’s achievements in innovating internet-based public welfare models and supporting the development of vaccination services in impoverished areas have received unanimous recognition from the philanthropic community. In the future, Xiao Dou Miao will actively assume greater social responsibility, provide Chinese families with higher-quality and more convenient “Internet + Vaccination” services, continue to focus on the development of regions with weak informatization infrastructure, and promote the equitable, safe, and rapid advancement of vaccination programs, enabling more people to share in the benefits of social development.
