Chronomics Secures £1.12M Seed Funding to Launch Epigenetic Health Test Kit

Recently, VCBeat (WeChat official account: vcbeat) learned that health technology company Chronomics has secured £1.12 million in seed funding and launched a product capable of assessing overall health through saliva testing. Investors in this round include two leading global venture capital firms, Anthemis Group and SOSV, as well as Laurence Garrett, a partner at Highland Europe.

Chronomics, a biotechnology company dedicated to epigenetic testing, was co-founded in 2017 by Dr. Tom Stubbs, Daniel Herranz, and Charles Ball, and is headquartered in Norwich, UK. The company’s core business involves assessing physiological functions by analyzing epigenetic information derived from DNA extracted from saliva samples. Since February 2018, Chronomics has been providing online epigenetic health services to consumers.

Chronomics’ health testing kits are extremely easy to use. First, Chronomics mails the health testing kit directly to the user’s home. The user simply provides a saliva sample of the required volume and sends it back to the company. A professional team then extracts and analyzes DNA using next-generation sequencing technology. Subsequently, within 8–12 weeks, the company publishes the results on its online platform, informing users of their health status and comparing their results with those of individuals in the same age group. Meanwhile, the company develops a targeted improvement plan based on the user’s current health condition. Finally, the company follows up with users through repeat testing and provides appropriate recommendations.

The aforementioned epigenetic saliva test can provide a personalized assessment of an individual’s health status, covering aspects such as biological age, metabolic state, and the physiological impact of smoking. This test enables users to better adjust their lifestyle, mitigate disease-related burdens, and prevent disease onset. It is reported that the testing and subsequent services are offered in three tiers, with the highest tier priced at up to £1,300.

Dr. Tom Stubbs, Founder and CEO of Chronomics, stated, “The fact that Chronomics has garnered interest from world-leading venture capital firms after only one year in operation is a strong testament to the value of our products. Our team will further optimize product performance by better integrating massive datasets with cutting-edge technology, empowering consumers to make more informed choices about improving their lifestyles.”
