Nightingale Health Secures €20 Million in Funding Led by EIB with GSK and Sanofi Participation to Advance Blood Analysis Platform for Chronic Disease Prediction

VCBeat (WeChat Official Account: vcbeat) has learned that Finnish biotechnology company Nightingale Health has completed a €20 million financing round, led by the EIB (European Investment Bank) led the investment, GSK Venture Fund (GSK Venture Fund) and Sanofi (SanofiCo-investment. This fund will be usedto further develop its blood analysis technology, facilitating better prediction and prevention of chronic diseases.

 

Pharmaceutical Giant GSK(GlaxoSmithKline)and Sanofi(Sanofi)Recently joined the FinnGen research project, a public-private partnership aimed at collecting and analyzing genomic and health data from 500,000 participants in Finland’s national health registries. The investment in Nightingale Health represents a significant strategic move by the two companies following their participation in the FinnGen research project.

In June last year, Nightingale Health announced the analysis of biomarkers from 500,000 blood samples sourced from the UK Biobank. Leveraging its advanced metabolic profiling technology, which measures disease-indicative molecules in the blood, Nightingale Health can extract more than 220 biomarkers from a single blood sample. While this technology is currently being employed in public health research, Nightingale Health has stated that its long-term goal is to replace traditional biomarker testing for chronic diseases.
