Recently, VCBeat (WeChat official account: vcbeat) learned that healthcare startup The Pill Club has completed a $51 million Series B financing round to expand its platform services, enhance the efficiency of online diagnosis and contraceptive delivery, and further achieve automated operations.
This round of financing was led by VMG Partners, with participation from Google Ventures (GV), ACME Capital, Base10, and Shasta Ventures.
The Pill Club is a healthcare startup headquartered in San Francisco, USA. Leveraging the expertise of physicians from Stanford University, the company has established an online telehealth platform dedicated to providing contraceptive services and delivering emergency contraception. As the first integrated healthcare service provider in the United States to offer contraceptive care, The Pill Club has received full support from incubators such as StartX and 500 Startups.
Nick Chang, Founder and CEO of The Pill Club, stated, “Safe and timely access to contraceptive pills is a key healthcare concern for women. Our company aims to streamline the process from prescription diagnosis to medication delivery, enabling users not only to obtain scientifically accurate contraception but also to avoid the hassle of waiting in line at pharmacies, thereby empowering them to better take charge of their own health.”
It is reported that The Pill Club has been accredited by the U.S. Board of Pharmacy, operates its own pharmacies across all 50 states and Washington, D.C., and is authorized to dispense prescription drugs covered by Medicaid. Consequently, users seeking contraception can simply create an account on The Pill Club’s website and share their medical history or existing prescriptions to enjoy the premium service of having medications delivered directly to their doorsteps. However, the platform currently supports online prescribing in only 35 states.
In the United States, there are approximately 67 million women aged 13 to 44, of whom 19 million lack contraceptive knowledge or face barriers to timely medical care. The Pill Club aims to fill this gap in women’s health. Nick Chang, Founder and CEO, stated, “We strive to empower women with the right to safeguard their own health. In the future, we will expand our business scale by 50% and accelerate the reach of our nationwide online diagnostic platform services.”
