VCBeat (WeChat Official Account: vcbeat) has learned that on January 24, InterMed Group, backed by Granite Bridge Partners LLC, acquired Horizon CSA, a company based in North Carolina. The financial terms of the acquisition were not disclosed. Through this acquisition, InterMed aims to empower its medical device service platform, InterMed Group, thereby providing hospitals and healthcare institutions with a systematic health technology management solution.
InterMed is the largest primary care healthcare organization in Maine. Founded in 1993, it employs more than 740 staff members, including 90 physicians. InterMed provides healthcare organizations with its unique Jump Team™ solution, which supplies skilled medical personnel and engineers for various temporary project needs. Jump Team™ services include temporary credentialed staffing, special project assistance, physical inventory services, and cybersecurity assessments. In addition, InterMed sells specific original equipment (OE) devices and leases used or refurbished imaging equipment. In December 2015, Granite Bridge and Rick Staab, together with other senior management team members, acquired InterMed.
Horizon CSA is a company that provides biomedical consulting, clinical engineering equipment services, and management solutions to acute care hospitals and other healthcare institutions. Headquartered in North Carolina, the company primarily serves the Southeastern and Mid-Atlantic regions of the United States. Its business focuses on three main areas: (1) helping healthcare institutions calculate the total cost of ownership for equipment operations and maintenance; (2) providing clients with solutions that ensure the effective operation of core equipment while reducing costs; and (3) enhancing clients’ profitability.
Rick Staab, CEO of InterMed, stated, “Horizon CSA is committed to providing customers with first-class medical equipment services and project management solutions, which align perfectly with InterMed’s strategy and culture. The addition of the Horizon CSA team will significantly enhance our technical expertise and project management capabilities, while the integration of both parties’ existing client resources will help InterMed become a stronger competitor in the medical solutions market on the U.S. East Coast.”
According to foreign media reports, through this acquisition, Horizon CSA will receive sufficient support and assistance from InterMed in project operations and customer management. Leveraging InterMed’s strengths, Horizon CSA is poised to make significant strides in modality services. For InterMed, the integration of the two companies will facilitate the effective implementation of a new, best-in-class HTM program named “New Horizons.”
