
Recently, VCBeat learned that gene-editing company EdiGene has announced the completion of its Pre-B+ round financing, raising approximately RMB 70 million. Meanwhile, Dr. Li Yun, who brings extensive clinical experience, has joined the company as Vice President of the Clinical Research Department.
This round of financing was led by Sinopharm Capital, with follow-on investments from existing investors including IDG Capital, the lead investor in the Company’s Series A round, and Lilly Asia Ventures, the lead investor in the Pre-B round.
EdiGene, founded in 2015, is headquartered in Beijing with branch offices in Guangzhou and Cambridge, USA. Its founder and Chief Scientific Advisor, Dr. Wensheng Wei, is a leading figure in gene editing technology. EdiGene possesses independently developed intellectual property rights for its technology and production platforms, specializing in genome editing technologies. The company is dedicated to developing novel therapies for diseases that are difficult to treat with conventional methods, as well as providing more innovative solutions for new drug development. Additionally, it leverages innovative high-throughput genomic screening technologies to generate functional biological big data, thereby accelerating the pace of new drug discovery.

Meanwhile, Dr. Li Yun, with over 20 years of experience in the clinical development of innovative drugs, has joined the company to oversee the clinical development of the therapeutic pipeline. Dr. Li has dedicated more than two decades to clinical research and development in oncology, hematology, and immune-related diseases, accumulating extensive experience in Phase I through Phase III clinical trials. Prior to joining Edita Therapeutics, Dr. Li served as Medical Director in the Global Pharmaceutical Services division of Parexel, a leading international CRO, for over ten years. He has also held various positions in the clinical R&D departments at Novartis China, Roche China, Rhone-Poulenc Rorer (now part of Sanofi), and Xian Janssen.
