Extend Fertility Secures $15M Series A Funding to Expand Egg Freezing Access and Empower Women’s Reproductive Autonomy

VCBeat (WeChat Official Account: vcbeat) has learned that Extend Fertility, a fertility services company, recently completed a $15 million Series A financing round. Led by Regal Healthcare Capital Partners, the funding will be used to expand into new markets on the West Coast. Additionally, the company has appointed Anne Hogarty, President of MyEggBank—the largest frozen donor egg bank in North America—as its Chief Executive Officer.

Founded in 2016 by Chief Medical Officer Joshua U. Klein, MD, Extend Fertility is a leading fertility services company headquartered in New York, USA. The company is dedicated to providing egg freezing services for women, enabling them to preserve their oocytes during the optimal period of reproductive health and exercise autonomy over their reproductive choices. Last year, the company expanded its services to include individuals facing infertility, offering comprehensive diagnostic and treatment solutions, including IVF (in vitro fertilization-embryo transfer, also known as test-tube baby) and IUI (intrauterine insemination).

Extend Fertility’s innovations compared to other biotech service providers are twofold: first, the company employs a proprietary clinical algorithm that helps physicians predict patients’ oocyte yield, thereby offering women optimal options for autonomously planning their fertility; second, the company has established its own laboratory equipped with cutting-edge technologies, including specialized air filtration systems and single-chamber benchtop incubators.

Joshua U. Klein, M.D., co-founder of Extend Fertility, stated, “Extend Fertility is the first company in the United States to recognize that women who freeze their eggs deserve high-quality, personalized care. We aim to expand egg-freezing services nationwide and provide more attentive care for those struggling with infertility.”

Extended Fertility’s egg freezing process primarily consists of the following four steps: First, the company conducts a fertility assessment for the user, during which a professional medical team collects information on the user’s fertility and overall health status. Next, the user undergoes daily hormone injections for 8–11 days to stimulate the ovaries to produce multiple eggs within a single menstrual cycle. Once the eggs have matured, a 15-minute painless procedure is performed to retrieve them from the ovaries for screening. Finally, the retrieved eggs are rapidly frozen using a vitrification method called Cryotec, which has been proven to increase egg survival rates to nearly 100%.

“Extended Fertility has keenly captured market demand,” said Dr. David Kim, Co-Founder and Partner at Regal Healthcare Capital Partners. “As an investment firm dedicated to advancing medical practice, we view Extended Fertility as an indispensable partner. We will fully support its business expansion.”
