VCBeat (WeChat ID: vcbeat) has learned that immuno-oncology company Vor Biopharma recently announced it raised $42 million in its Series A financing round. The round was led by 5AM Ventures and RA Capital Management, with participation from Janssen Innovation, the Novartis Institutes for BioMedical Research, and individual investor PureTech Health. According to Vor Biopharma’s official website, the primary use of these funds is to advance its candidate drug for leukemia-targeted immunotherapy.

Vor Biopharma is an immuno-oncology company headquartered in Boston, Massachusetts, primarily focused on the research and development of novel cancer therapies. The company has established a hematopoietic stem cell (HSC) technology platform designed to address the current limitations of immunotherapy. According to foreign media reports, Vor Biopharma’s cancer treatment approach aims to enhance drug efficacy through targeted immunotherapy for patients, thereby providing tumor patients with a safer and more convenient treatment experience. Currently, based on in-depth research into the pathogenesis of acute myeloid leukemia (AML), the company’s scientific team has developed multiple candidate drugs for the treatment of leukemia.

Since 2016, Vor Biopharma has strengthened its collaborations with world-class oncologists and immunologists, including Dr. Hans-Peter Kiem, Chair of the Board at Fred Hutch; Dr. Dan Littman, Director of the Fred Stem Cell and Gene Therapy Program; Dr. Derrick J. Rossi, Associate Professor in the Department of Stem Cell and Regenerative Biology at Harvard University; and Dr. Joseph Bolen, Chief Scientific Officer at PureTech Health.

“Malignant tumors and leukemia are highly prevalent and serious diseases in modern society, and there is a strong public expectation for the rapid emergence of new drugs and therapies to cure these conditions. I am pleased that our team has been making relentless efforts toward the goal of conquering malignant tumors and leukemia. We believe that as technological bottlenecks are overcome, an increasing number of patients will benefit from targeted immunotherapy,” said Dr. Siddhartha Mukherjee, Chief Medical Advisor at Vor Biopharma and M.D. from Columbia University, in an interview with the media. “Vor Biopharma is a company with an inclusive spirit; we will collaborate with more medical experts and share resources with additional healthcare institutions and medical journals.”
