From February 11 to 15, the 2019 HIMSS Global Conference & Exhibition (hereinafter referred to as HIMSS19) was held in Orlando, Florida, USA. As one of the most influential large-scale exhibitions in the healthcare information technology industry worldwide, it attracted 45,000 attendees, including healthcare IT professionals, clinicians, healthcare administrators, government policymakers, and corporate representatives from more than 90 countries around the globe.

Notably, data management technologies emerged as one of the focal topics at HIMSS19. At the conference, Healthdom, a SaaS-based personalized healthcare company, announced a partnership with Medfusion, a leading provider of patient data connectivity solutions, to leverage Medfusion’s API technology for retrieving and aggregating patient health data on its platform.

VCBeat (WeChat ID: vcbeat) has learned that Healthdom is a SaaS-based digital healthcare company headquartered in San Francisco. Healthdom has developed a mobile- and web-based digital healthcare platform that provides patients with a “guardian” to actively monitor and guide their health care.

Healthdom’s platform reminds members to undergo preventive medical examinations at appropriate times. The reminder algorithm is personalized for each user based on factors such as patient DNA, age, gender, ethnicity, and medical history. The platform not only informs members when they need physical examinations and health screenings but also provides seamless appointment scheduling with laboratories and clinics. Furthermore, Healthdom’s solution is designed with consumer experience in mind, delivering easy-to-understand, user-friendly data feedback to empower users in self-care.

Founded in 1996, Medfusion has redefined healthcare IT by centering it around patient health information. Medfusion boasts leading patient data connectivity solutions, which is a key reason why Healthdom chose to partner with the company. Medfusion’s patient experience solutions include an industry-leading, EMR-agnostic platform that drives patient engagement, flexible patient self-scheduling solutions, and a robust portfolio of healthcare APIs. Notably, Medfusion’s API portfolio aggregates all medical records, enabling patients to easily access, consolidate, and share their health information within their providers’ systems or health applications. Currently, Medfusion supports a network of over 700,000 providers, with its APIs covering 80% of healthcare systems and 55 EHR systems in the United States. By leveraging Medfusion’s APIs, Healthdom platform members can rapidly import health data, thereby enriching Healthdom’s database.

“Health IT is advancing so rapidly that solutions we couldn’t have imagined just a few years ago are now a reality,” said Robert Keehan, Director of the Business Division at Healthdom. “Medfusion’s APIs are changing the game for us by integrating patient DNA, age, gender, medical history, and other factors to create personalized preventive screening health plans for our members. Our partnership with Medfusion will help our members detect potential health issues earlier, providing them with the best possible opportunities for treatment.”

“It is inspiring to see companies like Healthdom use our data services API to drive real improvements in member health and medical care,” said Kimberly Labow, CEO of Medfusion. “Empowering people to proactively use their health data fulfills the promise of health IT. We have been committed to developing easy-to-use, powerful, and secure API technologies that help partners such as Healthdom connect patient data across both mobile devices and operating systems.”
