VCBeat (WeChat ID: vcbeat) has learned that Royal Philips, a global leader in health technology, recently announced the launch of its new mobile C-arm imaging platform, Philips Zenition.
Zenition is an operating platform that provides real-time image guidance. Featuring high mobility, easy stabilization, and intuitive operation, the platform excels in image-guided minimally invasive surgeries, including plastic, trauma, and vascular procedures.
To obtain clear, high-quality images, Zenition employs the same image capture and processing technologies as the Azurion platform (an image-guided therapy platform previously launched by Philips), providing physicians with high-definition visualization. Philips’ proprietary MetalSmart software system, which automatically adjusts image contrast and brightness, has earned Zenition considerable acclaim in orthopedic surgery.
In addition, Zenition features a tablet-like user interface and streamlined workflows. Once operators master one system, they can seamlessly apply their skills across all scenarios, enabling proficient operation during any interventional or surgical procedure to rapidly and intuitively capture focused images.
Nikolaos Bonaros, Associate Professor of Cardiac Surgery at the Medical University of Innsbruck in Austria, stated, “In addition to its impressively intuitive operation mode, this platform is capable of performing preliminary organization and summarization of high-quality intraoperative images. The launch of Zenition has provided unprecedented support to frontline surgeons and nursing staff.”
Ronald Tabaksblat, Head of Philips’ Image-Guided Therapy business, stated, “As patient volumes increase and surgical procedures become more complex, the uptime, utilization, and availability of medical equipment are becoming increasingly critical. Our newly developed mobile C-arm platform has proven itself in the market. We plan to launch Zenition sequentially in the United States, Germany, Austria, and Switzerland in the first half of 2019.”
It is reported that Zenition has obtained CE certification and received 510(k) clearance from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA). The company will exhibit at Booth 402, Hall X4, during the European Congress of Radiology (ECR) 2019 (February 28–March 3, 2019).
