The annual Mobile World Congress (hereinafter referred to as “MWC 2019”) was held from February 25 to 28 at the Fira Gran Via convention center in Barcelona. As the most influential exhibition in the global telecommunications sector, MWC attracted over 100,000 attendees, with numerous telecommunications and technology companies showcasing their latest innovations.

Although emerging technologies such as AI, 5G, and foldable screens successfully captured the attention of many attendees, VCBeat (WeChat ID: vcbeat) observed that Oral-B, an innovative leader in the field of oral care, successfully stole the spotlight at MWC 2019 with the launch of its groundbreaking new smart electric toothbrush—the GENIUS X.

Oral-B stated that the oral cavity is the gateway to health and comes into contact with a toothbrush twice daily. The company aims to enable users to conduct health monitoring at home using this AI-powered toothbrush as part of their daily oral care routine, providing real-time feedback to healthcare providers to facilitate the prevention and diagnosis of oral diseases.

It is reported that GENIUS X is Oral-B’s most advanced electric toothbrush to date, designed by dental professionals and featuring groundbreaking AI capabilities. The AI technology integrated into the GENIUS X combines data from thousands of brushing behaviors to assess individual brushing techniques. By tracking the user’s current brushing position and providing personalized feedback on areas requiring extra attention, it guides users toward better brushing habits and improved oral health.

Oral-B provides a companion app for the GENIUS X, guiding users through the various brushing motions required. Typically, people believe they brush for the recommended two minutes, but in reality, the average duration is only 30 to 60 seconds. With the app paired with the GENIUS X, users can extend their brushing time to 2 minutes and 22 seconds.

In addition, Oral-B equips the GENIUS X with a travel-friendly charging case that can charge both the toothbrush and USB devices such as smartphones.

Currently, GENIUS X is available in five colors: white, black, purple, pink, and gray, and is expected to go on sale in September 2019.

Oral-B, a part of Procter & Gamble, is the global leader in the toothbrush market, which exceeds $5 billion. The company’s product portfolio includes manual and electric toothbrushes for children and adults, oral irrigators, and interdental products such as dental floss. At MWC 2019, Oral-B unveiled its vision for the future: leveraging smart dental care and health management tools to help consumers live longer, healthier lives.
