From March 12 to 16, 2019, the 38th International Dental Show (hereinafter referred to as “IDS”) was held at the Koelnmesse in Cologne, Germany. Organized by GFDI, the commercial subsidiary of the German Association of Dental Manufacturers (VDDI), IDS is a biennial event. The exhibition showcases premier dental equipment, instruments, pharmaceuticals, and technologies available in the global dental trade market, making it the largest and most influential trade fair in the international oral health industry. As the world’s largest professional gathering in the dental field, this year’s IDS featured over 160,000 square meters of exhibition space and attracted professionals and dental companies from nearly 60 countries worldwide.
At the IDS exhibition, Swedish medtech company Osstell AB launched its most powerful product to date—the Osstell IDx Pro—based on ISQ (Implant Stability Quotient) technology. The Osstell IDx Pro provides a new benchmark tool to guide dental implant treatment for optimal and predictable restorative outcomes.
As a complement to the Osstell IDx, the Osstell Beacon, previously launched by Osstell AB, is an innovative, highly intuitive, and easy-to-use tool designed to guide dental implant treatment toward more predictable outcomes.
The new Osstell IDx Pro combines the best of both worlds: a wireless, smart, and highly intuitive ISQ probe, along with a comprehensive user interface for visualizing dental implant stability, integrated with patient data storage and full connectivity.

Osstell IDx Pro provides access to the exclusive online service Osstell Connect, delivering key insights—such as determining the optimal timing for dental implant placement within seconds—while ensuring data security. This enables clinicians to enhance their implant treatment outcomes by leveraging a database of over 100,000 dental implant stability measurements.
Osstell AB, founded in 1999 and headquartered in Gothenburg, Sweden, specializes in developing and providing dental solutions for measuring implant stability and monitoring osseointegration. Osstell AB pioneered the Resonance Frequency Analysis (RFA) technology. This patented technology assists clinicians worldwide in assessing implant stability and the osseointegration process by objectively measuring the implant’s resonance frequency and stability using the Implant Stability Quotient (ISQ) scale. The publication of over 900 scientific articles has confirmed the advantages of this technology and the clinical value of the ISQ scale in daily practice.
Since September 2016, Osstell AB and the Austrian family-owned company W&H have collaborated in the dental market, developing the world’s first Implantmed device equipped with implant stability measurement functionality. Last March, Osstell AB was fully acquired by W&H. As the 19th subsidiary of W&H with independent legal entity status, Osstell AB continues to operate from its headquarters in Gothenburg, Sweden, retaining the company name Osstell AB.
Currently, Osstell AB plans to launch the Osstell IDx Pro in the European Union upon obtaining regulatory approval. Other markets will follow suit, pending regulatory clearance.
