From March 12 to 16, 2019, the 38th International Dental Show (hereinafter referred to as “IDS”) was held at the Koelnmesse in Cologne, Germany. Organized by GFDI, the commercial subsidiary of the German Association of Dental Manufacturers (VDDI), IDS is a biennial event. The exhibition showcases premier dental equipment, instruments, pharmaceuticals, and technologies available in the global dental trade market, making it the largest and most influential trade fair in the international oral health industry. As the world’s largest professional gathering in the dental field, this year’s IDS featured over 160,000 square meters of exhibition space and attracted professionals and dental companies from nearly 60 countries around the world.

At the IDS trade show, Nexa3D, a manufacturer of professional-grade ultra-fast light-curing 3D printers, partnered with dental materials supplier BEGO to launch their new dental 3D printer—the Varseo XL.

This new dental 3D printer is based on Nexa3D’s proprietary Lubricant Sublayer Photo-curing (LSPC) technology and employs a patented structured light source matrix, achieving a maximum print speed of 1 cm per minute. This remarkable speed reduces the time required to print precise functional components from hours to minutes. The Varseo XL prints six times faster than competing printers and offers a build volume five times larger than similar machines on the market.

Nexa3D, founded in 2014, is a 3D printing startup that integrates cutting-edge technologies in components, sensors, optical systems, and chemistry to apply Moore’s Law to a new, proprietary 3D printing technology. Nexa3D manufactures ultra-low-cost, industrial-grade stereolithography 3D printers for professionals and enterprises.

BEGO is an industry pioneer with a 129-year history. The company has been dedicated to the research and development of dental laboratory materials and equipment, and the BEGO brand enjoys an outstanding reputation worldwide, particularly in the field of alloy materials. Nexa3D’s partnership with BEGO aims to meet the growing demand for 3D printing applications in dentistry, a market worth billions of dollars.

At the IDS exhibition, Varseo XL was showcased at the BEGO booth. BEGO plans to commercialize Varseo XL through its expanding network of dental distributors within the next 12 months.
