Produits Dentaires Launches EsenSeal, a Next-Generation Root Canal Sealer with Setting Time Under 3 Hours at IDS 2019

From March 12 to 16, 2019, the 38th International Dental Show (hereinafter referred to as “IDS”) was held at the Koelnmesse in Cologne, Germany. Organized by GFDI, the commercial subsidiary of the German Association of Dental Manufacturers (VDDI), IDS is a biennial event. The exhibition showcases premier dental equipment, instruments, pharmaceuticals, and technologies in the global dental trade market, making it the largest and most influential trade fair in the international oral health industry. As the world’s largest professional gathering in the dental field, this year’s IDS featured over 160,000 square meters of exhibition space and attracted professionals and dental companies from nearly 60 countries around the world.

At the IDS exhibition, Swiss dental products company Produits Dentaires (PD) launched its new generation of root canal sealer—EsenSeal. Designed and manufactured by the company, EsenSeal features a unique formulation containing melaleuca or tea tree oil, enabling more effective root canal sealing to limit the growth of residual bacteria and prevent infection.

Produits Dentaires was founded by William Gehrig in 1940. With a history spanning over 70 years, the company upholds rigorous Swiss craftsmanship and is renowned for producing high-quality, premium dental products.

Produits Dentaires believes that effective obturation is a critical step in root canal therapy. The filling material selected by EssenSeal belongs to the zinc oxide-eugenol category. Among these, zinc oxide-eugenol sealants undergo a chelation reaction during setting, which provides them with good adhesion after curing.

This new-generation root canal sealer is easy to handle and highly flowable, allowing dental professionals to achieve a perfect three-dimensional seal. Furthermore, it boasts excellent physicochemical properties and an exceptionally pleasant tea tree aroma. Like other zinc oxide eugenol products from Produits Dentaires, EssenSeal exhibits minimal volume change upon setting, possesses thixotropic properties, and, due to its extremely fine particle size, readily penetrates root canal anatomy to ensure complete coverage of the entire root canal wall. The superior chemical characteristics of EssenSeal ensure a working time of less than 60 minutes and a setting time of under 3 hours.

Another advantage of EssenSeal is its ease of use. To simplify the sealing process, the mixing procedure for EssenSeal is as simple as adding one drop of liquid to a spoonful of powder. This straightforward mixing protocol ensures consistency. With a vial capacity of 15 grams of powder and 10 milliliters of liquid, it provides a cost-effective solution for dental professionals.

Furthermore, EssenSeal is easy to use with PD’s gutta-percha points and emits a pleasant fragrance. Currently, EssenSeal is being exhibited at Hall 11 of the IDS trade fair.
