From March 12 to 16, 2019, the 38th International Dental Show (hereinafter referred to as “IDS”) was held at the Koelnmesse in Cologne, Germany. Organized biennially by GFDI, the commercial subsidiary of the German Association of Dental Manufacturers (VDDI), IDS showcases premier dental equipment, instruments, pharmaceuticals, and technologies in the global dental trade market. It is currently the largest and most influential trade exhibition in the international oral health industry. As the world’s largest professional event in the dental field, this year’s IDS featured over 160,000 square meters of exhibition space and attracted professionals and dental companies from nearly 60 countries worldwide.

The dental industry has long been a significant sector in Liechtenstein, with Ivoclar Vivadent as its most prominent representative. At this year’s IDS trade fair, Ivoclar Vivadent launched a new product for aesthetic dental restoration—3s PowerCure.

3S PowerCure is an open product system comprising Adhese Universal, a self-etching adhesive for curing resins; Bluephase PowerCure, an intelligent and high-performance curing light; Tetric Powerfill, a sculptable composite; and Tetric PowerFlow, a flowable 4 mm composite.

Traditional composite materials are typically semi-translucent. The highly reactive photoinitiator Ivocerin has paved the way for the development of Tetric PowerFill and Tetric PowerFlow. These 4 mm composites exhibit enamel- and dentin-like translucency, enabling dentists to achieve aesthetic outcomes comparable to those of traditional composites during restorations. Furthermore, light curing can be completed in just 3 seconds when using the new Bluephase PowerCure curing light.

Bluephase PowerCure is a next-generation light-curing unit. Equipped with an automatic assistance system, the device automatically detects unintended movement of the light guide during the curing process. It alerts the user to improper handling via vibration and automatically extends the exposure time. If unexpected movement compromises proper material curing, the curing light will automatically interrupt the exposure, allowing the procedure to be correctly repeated.

Ivoclar Vivadent’s 3S PowerCure System offers a high-efficiency solution: its products are optimally coordinated with restorative procedures to deliver aesthetic, efficient, and high-quality aesthetic restorations. Dentists can now reduce treatment time by more than half while achieving the same aesthetic results as before.
