During the 2019 Two Sessions, terms such as “uprighting conduct and combating corruption,” “rule of law,” “education reform,” and “Healthy China” emerged as prominent buzzwords. The annual “Two Sessions Buzzwords” reflect the aspirations of the people; the inclusion of “Healthy China” on this list underscores the public’s growing demand for higher-quality healthy living.

As a leading health and wellness industry group in China, Wenkang Group has closely aligned with the national “Healthy China” strategy over its more than ten years of development, focusing on public health and medical care.

In advancing the policy agenda for “Internet + Healthcare,” Wenkang Group has further expanded its industrial layout by successfully launching Chongqing’s first internet hospital—Chongqing Mingbo Internet Hospital. This marks the first internet hospital platform in Chongqing built fully in accordance with national standards, following the issuance of the Administrative Measures for Internet Hospitals and Basic Standards for Internet Hospitals and the Chongqing Action Plan to Accelerate the Development of “Internet + Healthcare” (2018–2020) by the national government in 2018.

It is understood that Chongqing Mingbo Internet Hospital was established based on the physical institution, Mingbo Hospital, under the Winkang Group. Unlike traditional online consultations, Mingbo Internet Hospital leverages internet technology to create a green channel between patients and top-tier medical resources, closely integrating online consultations with offline treatment through one-stop medical services. It provides patients with online appointment scheduling, remote consultations, electronic medical record sharing, and online prescription services. Prescriptions issued online hold the same legal validity as those from physical hospitals, and the quality of diagnosis and treatment matches that of offline hospitals.

Meanwhile, patients can use valid electronic prescriptions to purchase medications at nearby pharmacies or have them delivered to their homes via third-party platforms. Furthermore, Mingbo Hospital has established a Telemedicine Center in collaboration with the Chinese People's Liberation Army General Hospital (Beijing 301 Hospital), pioneering a new model of remote consultations. By leveraging information technology, this initiative enables “face-to-face” consultations between specialists and patients across different locations. This means that residents of Chongqing can access high-quality medical resources from Beijing without leaving the city.

As the physical carrier of its internet hospital, Mingbo Hospital is a comprehensive medical center with internationally leading healthcare standards. It boasts a top-tier team of domestic experts and adheres to a “patient-centered” service philosophy. By integrating artificial intelligence and big data analytics into its professional technical capabilities, the hospital has established a comprehensive suite of smart facilities and services, including an intelligent pharmacy, intelligent bedside systems, intelligent ward rounds, and intelligent nursing care. As such, it stands as a true industry benchmark for modern, smart hospitals.

Notably, Mingbo Internet Hospital has not only completed the standardized construction mandated for national internet hospitals, thereby ensuring the quality of its platform, but also accelerated the development of the new “Internet + Healthcare” service model in Liangjiang New Area, Chongqing. This initiative promotes the implementation of the Smart Healthcare Priority Action Plan and enhances the accessibility and public benefit of healthcare services.

In the future, Mingbo Internet Hospital will continue to deepen its expertise in upgrading smart medical services, build a comprehensive health management support platform, and leverage in-depth mining, analysis, and application of big medical data to drive the intelligent and precise transformation of healthcare. It aims to provide hospitals with customized, all-encompassing medical service platforms, helping them further optimize service workflows, enhance patient care experiences, and expand the scope of medical services.

In addition to its internet hospital platform, Mingbo Hospital will continue to expand into the online healthcare market and explore new healthcare service models in public health, thereby continuously meeting the needs of hospital business development and patient care in the mobile internet era, while maintaining its leadership in the smart healthcare industry.

It is reported that Mingbo Internet Hospital and Mingbo Hospital are subsidiaries of Wenkang Group. Founded in 2007, Wenkang Group has grown over the past decade into a leading one-stop comprehensive medical service platform in China and a provider of holistic solutions for the medical and health industry.

Its business spans seven major sectors: “online medical platforms, regional smart healthcare, intelligent health management, pharmaceutical e-commerce platforms, internet hospitals, healthcare institution development, and health industry education.” In 2011, it received strategic investment from Yunfeng Capital, a fund initiated by more than ten Chinese business leaders including Jack Ma, Yu Feng, Shi Yuzhu, and Jiang Nanchun. In 2014, it secured another round of strategic investment led by Legend Holdings and CCB International.

In addition, Wenkang Group successfully established Mingyitang Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital in Chongqing, adopting the “Internet + Traditional Chinese Medicine” model, and secured tens of millions of RMB in investment from Danlu Capital by the end of 2018.
