VCBeat (WeChat Official Account: vcbeat) learned from foreign media that on March 26, U.S. local time, Allergan, a global leading biopharmaceutical company, announced the acquisition of skincare company Envy Medical. This acquisition supplements Allergan’s skincare product portfolio under its SkinMedica brand and grants Allergan ownership of Dermalinfusion, a patented technology for superficial skin resurfacing developed by Envy Medical.

Allergan (NYSE: AGN), a global leader in the pharmaceutical industry, was founded by pharmacist Gavin S. Herbert in 1948 and is headquartered in Dublin, Ireland. Allergan primarily focuses on four therapeutic areas: medical aesthetics, eye care, central nervous system disorders, and gastroenterology. The company operates in approximately 100 countries worldwide and employs more than 17,000 people.

Envy Medical is a privately held biotechnology company, founded in 2002 and headquartered in California, USA, with a primary focus on skin health and aesthetic dermatology. The company provides non-invasive skin rejuvenation therapies for patients with dermatological conditions, addressing issues such as hyperpigmentation, aging, and acne by administering skincare products containing potent reparative ingredients via injection.

Dermalinfusion is a proprietary, non-invasive skin resurfacing technology independently developed by Envy Medical. It restores skin radiance and addresses various dermatological concerns by delivering serums with precise timing to patients. During exfoliation, Dermalinfusion simultaneously infuses serums, ensuring maximal skin permeability and enhancing the absorption of active ingredients into the deeper layers of the skin.

Serums are the key component of Dermalinfusion technology. The serums provided by Envy Medical primarily consist of two exclusive, patented ingredients: Lumixyl and PCX. Envy Medical’s Pro-Infusion serum series offers targeted infusion serums for various skin concerns, including anti-aging, hyperpigmentation, dryness, oily skin, clogged pores, and rough skin texture.

It is worth noting that mild cosmetic skin concerns show significant improvement after a single injection, whereas patients with severe skin conditions require multiple treatments. Furthermore, this injectable therapy is not limited to facial skin; Dermalinfusion can also address other dermatological issues, such as postpartum stretch marks, back acne, dry and cracked hands and feet, and discoloration of the elbows.

Allergan Acquires Dermalinfusion Technology. Carrie Strom, Vice President of Medical Aesthetics at Allergan, commented: “The acquisition of Envy Medical’s Dermalinfusion technology underscores our commitment to providing skincare solutions for Allergan users. It also strengthens our position in the dermatology sector, enriches our medical skincare portfolio, and positions Allergan to better attract consumers seeking aesthetic dermatological treatments.”

Arash Khazei, CEO of Envy Medical, added, “As a leader in non-invasive medical aesthetics, we believe that Dermalinfusion can be perfectly integrated with Allergan’s product portfolio. We have long sought to expand the applications of Dermalinfusion, and Allergan’s involvement has provided an opportunity to realize this vision. We are delighted to join Allergan.”

According to incomplete statistics from VCBeat, Allergan has completed 30 acquisitions, including this latest one.
