In 2018, the General Office of the State Council issued the “Opinions on Promoting the Development of ‘Internet + Healthcare’,” calling for the improvement of the “Internet + Healthcare” service system and the development of “Internet + Medical Services.” In 2019, the National Health Commission released the “Pilot Work Plan for ‘Internet + Nursing Services,’” further clarifying that “Internet + Nursing Services” should primarily target individuals with limited mobility, such as the elderly who are advanced in age or disabled, patients in the rehabilitation phase, and those in the terminal stage, by providing nursing services including chronic disease management, rehabilitative care, specialized nursing, health education, and palliative care.
Jiang Dan, Director of the Career Development Center of the Red Cross Society of China, stated in his address that the Center has actively implemented President Xi Jinping’s important directives on the integrated development of the Internet and service industries. By leveraging its strengths as a public welfare organization and proactively partnering with WeDoctor Group to establish the Yaoyang Internet Nursing Home, the Center is jointly advancing the “Internet + Elderly Care” model, which holds significant importance for the development of China’s elderly care services.
