On April 16, the 2019 Medical Robotics Innovation Competition, co-hosted by Baidu Ventures and the Medtronic China Fund, was officially launched! The competition aims to identify innovative solutions with breakthrough creativity that leverage technologies such as AI, sensors, robotics, and 3D imaging to better address challenges in medical scenarios.
Submissions may consist of mature products or innovative designs and concepts backed by technical reserves. Eligible themes span seven major domains, including surgery, rehabilitation, medical assistance, and related intelligent hardware and software, as detailed below:
If you are the solution provider, you can click the link to register directly.https://vcbeat.top/robot-signAdditionally, we will launch a recruitment campaign for channel partners. Innovative solutions recommended by these partners will have the opportunity to gain priority access to the finals.
Medtronic has nearly 70 years of experience in the healthcare sector, with operations spanning 150 countries and regions worldwide and covering more than 70 disease areas, bringing extensive expertise and unique insights to the healthcare market. As an innovative leader in the global medical technology industry, Medtronic has identified medical robotics as a key strategic direction for research and development. Globally, it is actively expanding its presence in the fields of surgical and orthopedic robotic systems. In China, Medtronic is conducting R&D in surgical robotics and artificial intelligence (AI), while collaborating with universities, research institutions, and investment firms to promote the application and commercialization of these technologies.
Biomedical technology has always been one of the key areas for BV Baidu Ventures’ in-depth investment strategy. From AI-driven drug discovery to next-generation surgical robots, and from single-cell sequencing to in vivo sensors, BV has visited countless laboratories across China and the United States in its two years since establishment, investing in more than 30 cutting-edge biomedical companies. These include Sherlock Biosciences, a world-leading CRISPR diagnostics platform company founded by Zhang Feng’s laboratory; Qitan Technology, a Chinese scientist-developed next-generation nanopore sequencing platform company; CytoVale, which uses single-cell morphological data acquisition for precise and rapid sepsis detection; Rootpath, a Harvard/MIT-based personalized precision medicine TCR-T therapy company; Engine Biosciences, a high-throughput single-cell wet lab platform and AI algorithm-based drug discovery platform company; and Subtle Medical, the first medical imaging company to receive FDA approval for AI-enhanced medical imaging, among others.
Backed by a powerful combination of industry giants and specialized healthcare investment funds, such as Medtronic and BV Baidu Ventures, this robotics competition will serve as the ideal breeding ground for the technological translation and practical implementation of cutting-edge medical startups. On this fertile soil, we look forward to seeing more outstanding projects take root and flourish. Therefore, we aim to leverage third-party partners to source a greater number of high-quality solutions.
