Public health is a significant indicator of national prosperity and strength. As one of the four pillars of medicine—prevention, treatment, rehabilitation, and healthcare—rehabilitation medicine has increasingly become the focus of societal attention against the backdrop of the “Healthy China” initiative being officially elevated to a national strategy. Consequently, China’s healthcare sector has entered an unprecedented golden period of development. In particular, Beijing, as the economic hub of northern China, has consistently remained at the forefront of the healthcare industry. At the Second Session of the 13th Beijing Municipal Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference held this January, Mayor Chen Jining announced that Beijing would prioritize the strategic deployment of the healthcare industry this year.

From June 28 to 30, 2019, the Beijing International Rehabilitation & Personal Health Expo (hereinafter referred to as the “Rehabilitation Expo”) and CMEF•Beijing, themed “iCare, Healthy Future,” will be grandly held at the China International Exhibition Center (Jinganzhuang Hall). As a highly influential B2B2C integrated service platform in the Asia-Pacific region, one of the biggest highlights of this event is that Reed Sinopharm Exhibitions, the organizer, has chosen Beijing, the capital city, as the venue for both branded exhibitions, creating a powerful synergy with two concurrent shows in the same city. Spanning nearly 35,000 square meters at the China International Exhibition Center (Jinganzhuang Hall), the event will bring together over 1,000 exhibitors from more than ten countries, including South Korea, the United States, the United Kingdom, and France. They will showcase over 10,000 intelligent products and technologies as well as popular home health care items, presenting an unprecedented feast of health technology characterized by intelligence, interactive diversity, and distinct medical features.

Focusing on Intelligent Technologies Such as Rehabilitation Robots to Empower a Better Life

Currently, a new round of technological revolution and industrial transformation is sweeping across the globe. In particular, advanced technologies represented by artificial intelligence (AI), robotics, big data, deep learning, blockchain, AR/VR, and 3D printing are deeply integrating into every aspect of healthcare, shaping the future direction of the entire industry. Intelligent technologies, exemplified by rehabilitation robots, have gradually entered a new era characterized by capital synergy and integrated growth through collaboration among industry, academia, research, and application. Adhering to the principle that technology is the primary driver of innovative development, Rehabilitation Expo & CMEF Beijing is committed to introducing cutting-edge intelligent technologies into the healthcare sector, empowering industrial development and safeguarding public health.

At this rehabilitation exhibition, the organizers will spotlight a robotic industry cluster comprising 15 companies specializing in rehabilitation robots and exoskeletons, including Reable Medical, Beijing Daai, Guangzhou Yikang, Qianjing Rehabilitation, Beijing Ruide, Limade, Hanxiang Biology, and Shanghai Siyi. This showcase will present globally leading technologies and products for upper- and lower-limb rehabilitation robots to on-site attendees. Meanwhile, the organizers will collaborate with renowned experts in the field, such as Professor Pan Yu from Beijing Tsinghua Changgung Hospital, Professor Pei Yusheng from Chang Gung Memorial Hospital in Taiwan, and Professor Zhang Liqun from the Department of Bioengineering at the University of Maryland, USA, to co-host a high-level forum on the clinical application of cutting-edge technologies in rehabilitation robotics. This initiative aims to establish an interactive platform fostering the integrated development of industry, academia, research, and clinical practice within the rapidly evolving rehabilitation robotics sector.

In addition, numerous brand-name enterprises will make a grand reappearance with their latest smart technology products. For instance, Snibe, a leading IVD brand, will showcase its full line of chemiluminescence immunoassay products. Ningbo David will centrally display its independently developed infant incubators and infant radiant warmers. Getein Biotech will launch its newest portable POCT testing products. Beijing GeneTree Technology will present its latest intelligent biomedical products, including smart blood collection pillows and automatic bed-sheet changers. Other highlights attracting significant attention on-site will include Daqing Bio’s absorbable hemostatic membranes and artificial skin, as well as Guangzhou Sanrui Medical’s intelligent breast milk analyzer.

Thousands of Household and Personal Health Products Converge, Setting a New Benchmark for Smart-Driven Consumption Upgrades

Home and personal health care products have become a highly mature industry with significant market share in Europe and the United States. Statistics show that the global market size had already reached $17.9 billion as early as 2010. Although China’s home medical device sector started late and had a small base, it has experienced rapid growth in recent years. Driven by multiple factors—including consumption upgrades, a growing sub-healthy population, a surge in chronic disease patients, an aging society, favorable policies, and the integration of smart technologies—the industry has seen explosive development. Statistics indicate that the sector will continue to maintain an annual growth rate of over 20%. Home and personal health care has become a new essential need, alongside elderly care, education, and medical services. As health becomes people’s primary concern, consumers remain uncertain about where they can specifically learn about or experience these health care products.

To better meet consumer demand, the organizers of the Rehabilitation Expo will innovatively expand into the home and personal health sector, featuring seven end-consumer-focused segments: rehabilitation assistive devices, Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) diagnosis and treatment, rehabilitation nursing, smart elderly care, medical aesthetics and maternal-infant care, sleep health, and nutritional supplements.

To date, the exhibition has attracted exhibitors such as Sinocare, Guangdong Kaiyang, Swich, Landwind, Pango, Wanrui, Innuovo, Contec, Foshan Xinlan, Dayang, Sinocare, Biolight, Yuwell, Zhongke Meiling, Aioluo, Daosheng, Beijing Yasi Lianfa, Xi Wang New Materials, Shanghai Maidong Medical, and Shenzhen Laifushi. These exhibitors have registered to showcase star products spanning categories including home treatment, home monitoring, home assistive devices, and home care supplies. Featured products include smart home blood glucose meters, fetal heart rate robots, smart pillows, smart facial beauty devices, intelligent sleep diagnosis and monitoring systems, wearable sleep monitors, smart canes, smart wheelchairs, single-legged walkers, wearable smart gloves, digital TCM preventive healthcare systems, portable human motion analysis and monitoring systems, bedroom-dedicated oxygen concentrators, portable mesh nebulizers, and smart nursing beds.
